She was so engrossed in reading that she was startled by Dominic’s sudden voice, causing Celeste to fall to the ground, scattering the files in her hand.
Her wolf shrieked in her mind, obviously not anticipating this situation either.
Dominic usually didn’t come back until late at night, so why did he come back so early today?
Although they were still husband and wife, her behavior was quite disgraceful, especially since she knew that Dominic hated people scheming behind his back.
Celeste swallowed hard, her face looking extremely unnatural as she said, “You… you’re back.”
Dominic, dressed in a sharp black and white suit, had an imposing figure that was accentuated by the suit. His cold eyes glanced at her, making Celeste feel as if she was in an icy cave.
He walked towards her with his long legs, slowly taking off his suit jacket with a leisurely movement. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and every action he made exuded an air of nobility.
Although it was just the act of taking off his clothes, Celeste was terrified. She wanted to escape, but her feet were as if they were stuck in place.
Before she started dating Dominic, he was known for being ruthless and a devil. Now, she truly understood the terrifying presence Dominic had from an ordinary person’s perspective.
His terror that naturally surpassed everything else made Celeste feel like she was trapped, her hands and feet on the ground, with him advancing and her retreating.
Until her back was against the safe, she had no more room to retreat, and Dominic was already kneeling in front of her.
“Did you see it?” His voice was calm, and there was no trace of emotion in his eyes.
But Celeste understood that the calmer he was, the angrier he actually was.
His black eyes were as dark as ink, so thick that one couldn’t see any emotions within.
Celeste swallowed hard, cautiously nodding her head, then quickly shaking it.
She did see it, or more accurately, she hadn’t finished reading the entire death report.
Dominic’s knuckles lifted her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze.

Chapter 25
“Do you know why I didn’t keep that child?”
Celeste bit her lip and answered softly, “Because of Delilah.”
She had seen the autopsy report, and the real cause of Delilah’s death was not drowning, but being strangled and then thrown into the water. There was also an important piece of information Delilah was three months pregnant.
If she and Anthony really had a romantic relationship, there was a high possibility that the child was Anthony’s.
Dominic’s finger brushed against her tightly bitten lips, and his icy voice rang in Celeste’s ears, “I checked the surveillance footage of Layla entering and leaving the gynecology department. On that day, Anthony was also
there.”
Celeste hurriedly explained, “My parents have been divorced for many years, and it’s normal for my father to have such needs. Even if they were in a romantic relationship, I checked and found that my father treated her generously and did not mistreat her. My father couldn’t have killed her.”
A cold smile appeared at the corner of Dominic’s mouth. This was the first time in a long time that he had discussed Layla’s death with Celeste face to face.
“In your eyes, Anthony is a gentleman, and he treats you well only because he is your father. In this world, where there is light, there is shadow. No one is perfect, and what you see is only what he wants you to see.”
