Chapter 8
After being in the hospital for half a month, the first thing I did after being discharged was contact my former dance teacher, Mrs. Reed, to sign up for the Moon Goddess Dance Competition.
This was the clue left behind in the photo.
“But the participants for the competition have already been confirmed, and your spot was given to
your sister.”
A bit disappointed, I sighed and continued asking the teacher, “Mrs. Reed, is there really no way?”
“There is still one way left–dance battle!”
When I arrived at the dance studio, Mrs. Reed was in the middle of a training session.
“Follow me for a round and see if your basic skills have dropped from being pregnant for so many
months.”
After I followed her through a round of rehab training, I finally asked about the dance battle.
“I’ve already submitted your application for the dance battle. It’s scheduled for a week later. Use these days to do some recovery training and don’t embarrass me.”
It wasn’t until the day of the dance battle that I realized my competitor was Alice.
She had come with Jonah.
It had only been a few days since I last saw him, but Jonah already looked visibly more exhausted.
“Mia!”
When Jonah saw me, his eyes lit up, and he almost pulled his hand away, but Alice quickly clung to
him.
“Mia, I didn’t expect to see you here. You haven’t danced for months, how can you still want to compete for the spot?”
I didn’t even spare her a glance.
I simply said indifferently, “Don’t try to associate with me, I’m not your sister.”
Alice was furious, but Jonah spoke to me softly.
“Mia, please stop being so stubborn. Let’s reconcile and go back to the pack. I won’t make you angry anymore.”

I couldn’t help but laugh and bent over in mockery.
Looking at Jonah’s somewhat pitiful expression, I mocked him, “How dare you say that? You let your parents make me lose our child, and you still have the face to ask for reconciliation?”
“Jonah, I will never forgive you for this!”
He had given me a glimmer of hope in my darkest days, only to cruelly snuff it out.
Jonah staggered back a few steps, nearly causing Alice, who was holding onto him, to fall.
Without looking back, I left.
Behind me, I could feel his intense gaze and hear his frustrated yell.
“We will have children in the future, I haven’t done anything to hurt you! Please forgive me! Just
for once! Please!”
He hadn’t done anything to hurt me, but he couldn’t let go of Alice’s hand.
Soon, the competition began.
Alice and I took the stage one after the other.
After Alice’s performance, she looked at me smugly and whispered, “The spot will be mine, don’t
even think about it!”
I could see the trickery in her eyes.
Just as I was about to question her, the host announced that I was the winner.
Alice stood there, mouth agape in disbelief.
“That’s impossible! I had everything arranged, how could you win?”
A figure emerged from the stage, his voice low and pleasant, his gaze seeming to sweep over me.
“Did you think buying off the judges would guarantee you the spot? I will report this, and everyone involved will be punished!”
“And you, Alice, will never have a future in dance! No dance agency will hire a dancer who bribes
judges, especially the Royals Dance Academy!”
Alice collapsed on the spot.
The man walked up to me and handed me the competition certificate.

I stared at him, feeling a strange sense of familiarity.
“Little tramp, do you still want the certificate?”
Memories from my childhood flashed in my mind.
I remembered him now.
He was the neighbor who used to bring me food.
His name was Ethan Scott.
I took the certificate from him, and as our hands touched, a spark seemed to ignite.
“Mate.”
“Alice Richardson! You liar!”
We both turned to see Jonah’s mother, Grace, storming toward Alice, her anger palpable.
“You actually dared to deceive me!”
