Chapter 1
“Luna Mia, are you really going to terminate this child? You know Alpha Jonah’s condition. If you go through with this, he may never have another child again. Once the procedure is done, there’s no undoing it!”
The pack doctor looked at me in disbelief, even holding out Jonah’s medical report as if trying to change my mind.
“Luna Mia, the fact that you were able to conceive Alpha Jonah’s child at all is nothing short of a miracle. After all, ever since he was cursed with the blood hex, he lost his ability to father children. I strongly advise you to—”
“No need. Just do it.”
I interrupted him calmly, my expression unwavering.
If no one cared about this child, then why should I risk my life to bring them into a world where they’d only suffer?
After scheduling the procedure, I returned to the pack house of the Crescent Moon Pack.
Jonah was just stepping out of the kitchen, a food container in his hands.
When he saw me return, pale and weak, he didn’t even pause. He simply gave me a brief reminder.
“I left some chicken soup for you in the pot. Make sure you drink it with dinner–you lost a lot of blood earlier, so you need to replenish your strength.”
Seeing him heading out, I instinctively asked, “Where are you going?”
Jonah’s brows immediately furrowed, irritation flashing across his face.
“Obviously to the hospital. Alice went through a major ordeal–she needs someone to take care of her. You’re the only one acting like this has nothing to do with you, as if you don’t care at all!”
As he spoke, he looked at me with pure disdain.
“You even made a fuss about donating blood. I don’t understand how you can be so heartless, so cold–blooded–you wouldn’t even lift a finger to save your own sister!”
At that moment, it felt like my heart had shattered into a thousand pieces.
I bit down hard on my lip, my hands trembling as I clenched them into fists.
Glaring at Jonah, I spat out the words, “Cold–blooded? Heartless? Do you even know why I refused?

If I weren’t pregnant with this child, do you think I wouldn’t have donated?”
The moment I mentioned the baby, Jonah stormed toward me in a rage, towering over me with a
menacing glare.
“You’re still using that as an excuse? It was just a blood donation! It’s not like I asked you to die for her! What, do you think you’re that delicate? That losing a little blood would put your baby at risk?”
I stared at him, unable to believe that these words had just come from my own mate.
My voice came out weak, drained of all energy.
“Do you even realize that I haven’t had a proper meal in six months? Otherwise, why do you think I passed out in the blood donation room?”
For a brief moment, guilt flickered in Jonah’s eyes.
But just as quickly, it was replaced with anger and resentment.
He grabbed my chin, his grip painfully tight.
“You’re acting like the victim just because you’re pregnant? You’re the one who caused all of this! If you hadn’t insisted that I take you to the hospital for a checkup, Alice never would have run into that rogue witch on the night of the full moon. If not for you, she and I never would’ve been
cursed!”
“Because of you, I lost my ability to have children. And because of you, Alice—”
“Do you even know what people are saying about her now? They’re calling her a monster–a blood–drinking hybrid!”
“She’s your sister! How could you do this to her?”
“You are the reason for everything that happened!”
I stared at him, my vision blurred with unshed tears. My lips trembled, but I refused to let the tears
fall.
His grip on my chin left a deep red mark, bruising into a sickly purple.
In his eyes, everything was my fault.
I was the one who owed Alice.
But I was his Luna. His mate. I was carrying his child.

Yet, he had always chosen Alice–choosing to take her shopping instead of accompanying me to my
prenatal checkups.
A bitter laugh escaped my lips.
Jonah saw it as defiance.
“What the hell are you laughing at?”
The slap came hard and fast, sending my head snapping to the side.
He looked at me with pure disgust.
“Alice is in the hospital because of you, and you still have the audacity to laugh? Mia, I never realized you were this vile. You make me sick.”
With that, Jonah stormed out of the pack house.
Slowly, I lifted my head, wiping the blood trickling from the corner of my mouth.
I watched his retreating figure and smiled.
It was fine.
Soon, he’d know what it felt like to have his heart torn to pieces.
