Chapter 96 Bow
Orlando’s expression shifted through various emotions, but in the end, he found
himself at a loss. He could only manage a forced smile as he spoke to Felix, trying to
soften the situation. “Little buddy, we really messed up this time. A good man knows
when to correct their mistakes, right? Can you forgive me?”
Orlando’s words were almost pleading as he called for his own son. “Jimmy, come over here and apologize.”
But Jimmy, still unaware of the severity of the situation, saw nothing but humiliation in apologizing to a child younger than him. He scoffed, refusing with a dismissive sneer. “No way. Why should I? He didn’t share his toy with me and even threw things at me. I should’ve beaten him up harder.”
Renee’s face hardened instantly. Felix shrank into her arms, a silent plea for comfort. Her heart clenched at the sight of him, and the rage that burned inside her was palpable. Though she hadn’t been there earlier, she could already imagine how Jimmy had tormented Felix, and it made her sick.
“Apologize. Don’t think I won’t correct you myself, even if you are a child,” Renee said, her voice frosty, cutting through the tension.
Jimmy’s mother quickly yanked him behind her, her eyes narrowing with wariness as she cast a wary glance at Renee. She feared that Renee might lash out again. She looked to Orlando for reassurance, hoping he would defuse the situation.
Orlando’s face grew grim as he weighed his options. The heat of the moment wasn’t going to resolve anything. He turned to William, hoping for some peace.
“Mr. Mitchell, I apologize for what happened today. We truly regret this incident. We’ll cover all medical expenses for this gentleman and offer compensation. Since the little one was frightened, we’ll buy him some toys to make up for it. Would that be acceptable?” Orlando asked, his voice attempting to stay neutral but strained.
He then turned to Renee with a polite smile. “Ms. Carter, if you ever need help in the future, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’ll make sure it’s taken care of. Is this offer satisfactory?”
As the Chief Inspector, Orlando believed his words carried weight, but Renee was no easy target. William, sensing the tension, addressed her gently. “Why don’t you take Ryland to the hospital first? Felix needs your comfort too. I’ll handle things here.”
William’s implication was clear; he was willing to go along with Orlando’s proposal to avoid further conflict.
Renee had always been the type to hold grudges, and she wasn’t ready to let them off so easily. Yet, she didn’t want to escalate things further this time, especially since she needed to stay in Tofral for a secret mission during the days that followed.
She was about to agree, although the storm inside her simmered with the desire to make them truly pay for what they’d done.
Just then, a voice rang out, cutting through the tension. “Mr. Perez, you sound genuinely sincere. Why not bow? It might make you appear even more heartfelt.”
The
unexpected remark drew everyone’s attention like a magnet.
They turned to see a man nearby, casually sipping his coffee as if watching a live performance. His demeanor suggested he couldn’t resist commenting on the unfolding drama.
“Boss,” the amusement park manager said, acknowledging the man with a deferential tone.
It quickly became clear that this man was the owner of the amusement park.
With all eyes now on him, the man set his cup down with a deliberate motion and stepped forward, his tall frame commanding attention as he towered over the crowd. At over 6 feet, he was an imposing figure.
Dressed head–to–toe in sleek leather, his style was so refined it made even TV stars seem drab in comparison.
He walked forward, his gaze fixed firmly on Renee’s face. Despite the warmth in his smile, his words carried an icy edge. “Stop calling me ‘boss.‘ You’re no longer employed here. The accountant is processing your final paycheck.”
He addressed the manager with a cool, indifferent air.
Without even a glance toward the other staff member, he casually pointed in their
direction, saying, “You too.”
“Boss…”
The staff member’s voice trembled, but the man merely raised a finger to his lips, a silent command that left no room for debate.
