Chapter 93 Stand Up For
Him
The commotion quickly gathered a crowd, and the amusement park manager rushed over with an overly friendly smile plastered on his face. “Everyone, please calm down. How about we discuss this in my office? No need for anyone to get upset.”
“Are you the owner here?” Jimmy’s mother asked, her tone dismissive.
The manager’s smile remained polite, but his voice was a touch strained. “No, Ma’am. I’m just the manager.”
“Oh,” she responded with a shrug, clearly uninterested.
To her, the manager was nothing more than an employee–someone with no real
power or influence–and she wasn’t about to show him any respect.
Orlando, still fuming, turned his attention to the manager. “What’s your boss‘ name?
They should know me. Call them over.”
The manager’s expression shifted, realization dawning on him that Orlando must hold some kind of authority. He started to panic internally but kept his composure.
Orlando’s tone grew more forceful. “My son was hurt here, and you’re partially responsible. I want to hear what your boss has to say about this.”
The staff member who had been standing off to the side leaned in, whispering to the manager, “He’s the Chief Inspector of the Tofral Police Department.”
A cold sweat broke out on the manager’s forehead. He quickly pulled out his phone and
dialed his boss.
After the call, he didn’t dare to mediate the situation further. Instead, he switched to a fawning smile, practically bowing to Orlando and his family.
“I’m terribly sorry for what happened. If there’s anything we can do to assist, please, don’t hesitate to let us know,” the manager stammered.
Ryland, seeing the manager’s clear bias toward the Perezs, sneered with contempt.
“Feel free to check the surveillance footage. Then you’ll know who’s in the wrong. Damn it! You can either shut me up for good, or I swear, I’ll make every one of you pay.”
While the Flynn family wasn’t the most powerful in Tofral, they certainly weren’t to be underestimated. So what if Orlando was the Chief Inspector? Crossing the Flynn family could end up being a mistake he’d regret.
“Shut up!” Orlando snapped, his foot slamming into Ryland’s stomach again.
As Orlando prepared to strike once more, a cold voice interrupted, slicing through the tension.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
The voice was calm but unwavering, immediately commanding the attention of everyone in the vicinity.
“Mr. Mitchell…” Felix cried out, relief flooding his face as he spotted William. He could finally let himself cry, knowing that William would be there to comfort him.
“Mr. Mitchell, they’re bad people! Bad people! They bullied Mr. Flynn… They’re horrible!”
Felix’s voice trembled with emotion.
William’s heart went out to Felix. He scooped him up gently, stroking his back with
reassurance. “Don’t be afraid, Felix. I’m here now.”
Orlando’s face drained of color as he turned to face William, his voice shaking slightly. “Mr. Mitchell, you… This is…”
William shot him a glance, his icy stare enough to silence Orlando instantly. He didn’t need to say a word about his relationship with Felix for Orlando to realize he was facing someone powerful.
William spoke coolly. “Mr. Perez, I’m curious. What exactly did my boy do to earn your
anger?”
“Your… boy?” Orlando stuttered, almost tripping over the words.
But his wife, oblivious to the gravity of the situation, sneered arrogantly. “You’re this brat’s dad? How amusing! Do you even know who this man is?” She pointed at Ryland
with disdain.
Orlando, hesitant at first, decided to let his wife continue. He hoped that if William directed his anger at Ryland, they might escape the earlier confrontation over Felix and the insults they’d thrown at him.
He observed William closely, waiting for his reaction.
To his surprise, William didn’t so much as blink at Ryland. Instead, his voice was dripping with disdain. “Mr. Perez, does being the chief inspector give you the right to beat random citizens in public? How enlightening!”
