Chapter 69 Behave Yourself

“What do you think you’re doing?” Renee grabbed Rosa’s hand just as she was about to push open the private room door.

“Rosa, get out of here now.” Renee’s voice was frosty, her eyes narrowing in a silent

threat.

But Rosa, noticing the sharpness in Renee’s reaction, became even more determined to stay. After Sally married Nixon, Rosa had indeed become part of the Carter family, but she never truly fitted in. In Tofral, she wasn’t accepted as part of the upper circle; the trust fund kids rarely associated with her. In the past, Rosa had often asked Renee for help breaking into the elite circles, but Renee hadn’t liked her and had mostly refused

to include her.

She was sure today would be no different. Renee rarely came back to Tofral these days, and it was likely she had arranged to meet her group of friends now that she was in

town.

“Renee, please just let me join you. I promise I won’t be a bother. Please,” Rosa begged, trying once again to push the door open. Renee’s hand almost went up to knock her out just to stop her, but just as she raised it, Rosa suddenly exclaimed, “Renee, isn’t that your husband?”

Renee froze, stunned, and turned her head. At that moment, Rosa swiftly pushed the

door open.

As the door swung wide, Rosa’s smile froze instantly. She instinctively stepped back, but Renee pressed a hand against her waist and whispered in her ear, her voice cold as ice, “Since you’re so keen on having fun, go on in.”

Rosa shook her head slightly, pleading silently with her eyes. This time, she wasn’t begging to enter but silently asking Renee to let her leave.

“Miss Larson? Ah, you’re finally here. Please, come in.”

The man inside stood up to greet Renee, offering a warm smile that made him appear

like a harmless gentleman-except for the bloodstained knife he had just discarded on

the floor.

Renee forced a smile and gently shoved Rosa into the room. “Mr. Glyn, my apologies for the delay. Something came up. I brought a friend with me; I hope you’ll like her.”

Rosa’s eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Renee, her shock evident.

Meanwhile, in Renee’s hidden earpiece, the Tofral police chief, who was overseeing the operation, spoke with evident displeasure. “Rose, don’t drag irrelevant citizens into this. Find a way to get that girl out.”

But Renee didn’t agree. Rosa had insisted on coming in, and there was no way she was leaving without learning a lesson.

“Renee, please,” Rosa whispered, her voice trembling with desperation.

Renee sneered, her tone icier than ever. “If you don’t want to die, behave yourself.”

With that, she pushed Rosa forward, guiding her right in front of Marcel Glyn.

At Marcel’s feet lay a man, drenched in blood, motionless, and no one could tell if he

was still alive.

Rosa had never witnessed such a terrifying sight. She might have been unruly in the past, bullying classmates at school, but this was on an entirely different level. This was life and death, and it terrified her. She trembled visibly.

Marcel chuckled heartily, clearly entertained by Rosa’s reaction. “You know my type so well,” he said to Renee with a grin.

Turning his attention back to Rosa, he asked, “You’re a beauty. How old are you?”

He reached out to touch her face, but she recoiled in fear. Marcel’s smile faltered, but then he saw the blood on his hand and grinned wider. “Don’t be afraid, princess. I’ll clean up first,” he reassured her.

He gestured, and someone quickly handed him tissues.

Renee casually sat down on another sofa, crossing her legs, her red high heels catching the light. She raised her hand and snapped her fingers. Instantly, someone stepped forward to light her cigarette.

Taking a long drag, she exhaled slowly, the smoke swirling around her face, her gaze locked on Marcel. “Mr. Glyn,” she said coolly, “I’ve come with sincerity. I hope you have,

too. We’ve been working together for a while now, haven’t we? Isn’t it time I finally get

to meet your boss?”
