Chapter 64 Am I The

Father

“Can’t I kiss you?” William asked, his voice tinged with sadness.

It was almost laughable. Did he really think, after everything between them, that she’d give him permission?

Renee rolled her eyes in exasperation, and William’s expression soured immediately. He frowned and pressed on. “Then who can? Ryder? Or some other guy?”

“William, watch it,” Renee snapped.

William didn’t seem to hear her warning, though. His next question was a dagger. “Who’s the father of your son?”

The question hit Renee like a ton of bricks. After the chaos of their kiss, she was already a mess of emotions, but now this? She couldn’t think straight. She dodged his gaze, replying coolly, “None of your business.”

William’s laugh was sharp, filled with disdain. “I figured. Of course, Ryder is not the

father.”

Why else would Renee let Ryder give blood to Felix that day if they were really related? No, she would never risk her son’s life like that.

“Am I the father?” William suddenly asked, his tone flat but pointed.

The question was so blunt, it nearly stole the breath from Renee’s lungs. She took a moment to steady herself, forcing her racing thoughts to slow down. Then, with a sharp, sarcastic edge, she shot back, “William, have you forgotten? Every time we slept together, you made sure I took those pills right after. Do you honestly think I’d be carrying your child?”

Renee’s words clearly struck a nerve. William’s gaze darkened as he locked eyes with her, his voice low and tense. “Nene, you’re the one who said you didn’t want kids.”

“When did I ever say that?” Renee snapped, now clearly agitated.

Her frustration was building, but as the words left her mouth, she realized that discussing this with William right now was pointless-just a waste of time.

“The time you came to the base for my birthday,” William replied.

The memory hit Renee like a wave. She’d only visited him at the base for his birthday once. Back then, he had refused to see her when she arrived. Left with no choice, she went to his superior. When he finally showed up at her hotel, he was fuming, pointing his finger at her, and shouting, “Renee, do you seriously think the world revolves around you?”

At that moment, Renee was holding a birthday cake she had spent hours making. It wasn’t the prettiest thing, but she was so eager to see William’s reaction.

“I just wanted to celebrate your birthday with you,” Renee said, trying to stay calm.

“Forget that!” William snarled, his teeth clenched. “I’ve told you I got more important things to do today!”

Yet, Renee didn’t back down. “Nothing is more important than your birthday.”

William finally noticed the cake Renee was holding. His anger seemed to fade a little as he took in its appearance. “Where’d you get this cake?”

Seeing his expression soften, Renee proudly replied, “I made it myself. Take a bite.”

The cake wasn’t exactly a masterpiece-too sweet and lacking finesse-but somehow, it was just right for William. He devoured the whole thing in one go.

Satisfied, he wanted more, and before long, he pulled Renee toward the bed. They spent the entire afternoon and evening together, not stopping until midnight. By the time- Renee collapsed onto the bed, completely exhausted, she could barely move her legs. Just as sleep began to take over, she weakly reminded William, “Go buy me the pills.”

Then she remembered-he had asked her, “Don’t you want kids?”

But what had she said in response?

Renee wracked her brain, trying to remember, but the words she had spoken that day

were lost to time.
