Chapter 45 I’m Up For Something Wild
The phone rang for what felt like an eternity before Healy finally picked up. At first, all Moses could hear was the sound of rustling-fabric against fabric, hurried breathing, He called out, “Hello?” once. Twice. A third

That woman played me like a damn
fiddle,
Moses instantly tensed, gripping the phone

“What happened? Are you okay?”
Healy let out a bitter chuckle. “She knew I was tailing her. Led me straight into the middle of nowhere and left me stranded. Who would’ve thought a woman could be so
damn clever?”
Twenty minutes earlier… Healy had been shadowing Renee’s car, following at a safe distance in his van. Everything had seemed routine, smooth, effortless-until it wasn’t. By the time he realized something was off, it was too late. The city lights had long disappeared in the rearview mirror, replaced by a vast stretch of nothingness.
A lesser man might have panicked, but Healy wasn’t worried. Hell, he had been doing this kind of work for most of his life, and no woman had ever gotten the best of him before. Besides, what was Renee gonna do? A delicate little thing like her? He figured even if she noticed him, she would be too scared to act.
He believed she wouldn’t even have the nerve to step out of the car.
Just as that thought crossed his mind, Healy looked up-and there Renee was, stepping
out of the car.
She was alone, and he couldn’t help but be taken aback by her sheer boldness.
A slow smirk spread across Healy’s face. He admired Renee’s beauty-she was stunning, far too good to just let slip by. He’d be a fool not to make a move.
Without a second thought, Healy swung open his car door and sauntered toward Renee, whistling low.
“Well, well, what a coincidence! Fate must have brought us together, beautiful,” he called out, his voice thick with anticipation.
Renee didn’t hesitate for a second. She walked toward Healy with a purposeful stride, her face unreadable. “A coincidence? I thought for a moment that you were following
me.”
Healy’s grin only widened. “Straight to the point-I like that. Looks like this place is perfect for a little naughty time, don’t you think? Fancy a date with me?”
Renee was already right in front of Healy, so close he could almost smell the sweet perfume she wore.
Without missing a beat, she asked, “How do you want to do this?”
Healy took a slow, deliberate look at Renee. To him, Renee was the most stunning woman he had ever laid eyes on. The women he usually paid a few bucks for were nothing but a distant memory compared to her beauty. He couldn’t believe his luck today.
Even if the job went unfinished and the money slipped through his fingers, just being in the presence of someone as breathtaking as Renee would be reward enough.
He grinned, leaning in a little closer, his tone teasing. “Top or bottom? Car or out here under the stars? I’m up for something wild, if you are. It’s just us, after all.”
Renee’s face remained a perfect mask of calm. “Sure.”
Before Healy could even blink, her hand was on his shoulder, and then moving up to his chin with a touch that was deliberate, almost calculating.
Healy was practically buzzing with excitement. He had been with his fair share of women, some bold, some not-but none like Renee. She was the perfect combination of beauty and confidence, and he couldn’t wait to see where this encounter would lead.
However, as Healy leaned in to kiss Renee, a searing pain erupted in his neck. Her delicate hand struck with the precision of a venomous snake, wrapping around him with a vice-like grip. The shock of pain hit so quickly and hard, it took him a moment to process what was happening. He instinctively tried to fight back, but before his hand could even rise, she pinned it effortlessly with her other. As he attempted to free his other hand, the grip on his neck loosened, but just as he inhaled, her foot connected with his stomach in a brutal kick that knocked the wind right out of him.
Renee’s movements were lightning-fast, like she was reading Healy’s every
intention
before he even made a move. He couldn’t keep up, no matter HOW
left bewildered, wondering how a woman–this fragile-looking woman–could possess such strength.
In just two minutes, Renee had Healy completely under control. She looked down at him, her expression unflinching, and her voice cold as ice. “Tell me. Who sent you to follow
me?”
At first, Healy stubbornly held his ground. He figured it wasn’t a big deal that Renee could throw a punch-after all, she was just a woman. What could she really do to him? So, he stayed silent, even daring to continue flirting with Renee, as if the whole situation were just a minor inconvenience.
But soon, Healy realized he had made a grave mistake in underestimating her. The way Renee interrogated him-calm, precise, and relentless-showed him she was far from ordinary. He had truly met his match today.
