Chapter 44 Uncover Something Significant

“Healy! Healy! Look! Could it be her?”

Moses Craig, seated at the wheel of a van, nudged the bald man next to him, Healy Stanley, with excitement. Healy, jolted from his slumber, reacted with fury and slapped Moses. “What the hell? You’ve got some nerve, waking me up. I was dreaming about

hitting the jackpot!”

Moses remained calm and quickly explained, “Come on! It was just a dream. But had I not woken you, we might have missed out on a real fortune.”

Healy, confused, asked, “What are you on about?”

“There! The woman across the street! Isn’t she the one from the photo we’ve got?”

Moses pointed out urgently.

Now fully alert, Healy remembered their prolonged stakeout. He grabbed his phone, compared the woman in sight with the one in the photo, and confirmed Moses’s

observation.

“It’s definitely her! I’m calling her right now,” he declared.

He promptly dialed Sylvia’s number, and her crisp voice soon filled the van.

“What’s the matter?” Her tone was sharp and condescending, clashing with her usually gentle demeanor.

“Miss Payne, we’ve located her,” Healy reported.

Sylvia’s voice grew tense immediately. “Are you certain it’s the woman from the photo I sent you?”

“Positive. I don’t make errors with these things,” Healy confirmed confidently.

Sylvia, barely containing her animosity, instructed, “Excellent. Maintain close

surveillance on her.”

Once off the phone, Moses eagerly inquired, “So? What did she say?”

Peering intently out at Renee, Healy relayed, “We’re to keep a vigilant eye on this woman. No more sleeping on the job, Moses.”

Moses had barely slept in the past two days, unlike Healy who took naps frequently. He didn’t dare complain, though, as Healy had once saved his life, earning Moses’ profound gratitude.

They observed Renee conversing with another woman who subsequently entered the Sunflower Restaurant, while Renee herself climbed into a car.

“Hey, she’s driving away. Should I follow her?”

Healy’s eyes narrowed decisively. “Track the woman who was just talking to her. Find out which room she enters. I’ll tail her by car.”

“Understood.” Convinced of Healy’s judgment, Moses exited the vehicle and discreetly trailed the woman Renee had just spoken to. He watched her ascend to the top floor and approached the elevator to follow.

At that moment, the receptionist called out, “Hello, sir. May I assist you with anything?”

Moses spun around, his nerves on edge, and stared blankly at the receptionist.

Sensing his discomfort, the receptionist offered a sympathetic smile. “Sir, are you here to check in or just to dine?”

Moses gestured towards the elevator and explained, “The woman who entered resembles my cousin. I merely wished to greet her.”

“Oh, Ms. Myers?” the receptionist responded with a smile.

Without hesitation, he confirmed, “Yes, her last name is indeed Myers. Could you tell me her room number? I’d like to pay a quick visit.”

The receptionist kept smiling but replied courteously, “I’m sorry, sir, but that won’t be possible. I can’t disclose that information and besides, only registered guests are allowed upstairs. Ms. Myers is currently tutoring a guest’s child and will be available shortly. Perhaps you could call her and wait here?”

A rush of adrenaline surged through Moses as he processed the receptionist’s words. This Ms. Myers had been seen with the woman in the photograph and now she was tutoring a guest’s child according to the receptionist. Could it be that the woman they were after had a child with her?

Moses sensed that he had just uncovered something significant. He knew he had to

inform Healy immediately.
