Chapter 354 Breaking Point
When William got a call from Denton, he quickly left the house. This made Renee think that she was somehow involved in the issue. The more secretive William acted about it, the more serious it seemed to her.
She was sure something had definitely happened that night!
Renee tried reaching out to Barr, but he had nothing to report. She grew more suspicious that William was intentionally hiding something from her.
Meanwhile, William met up with Denton and immediately asked, “Have you found anything?”
With a serious look, Denton handed over a note without a word.
William’s brow furrowed as he read the message, which demanded, “Give up the appraisal event, and you’ll get your pictures back.”
William clenched his fist tightly, crumpling the note in his palm.
“Any other leads?” he asked.
Denton merely shook his head.
They were facing a tough adversary this time, and it seemed likely that Damir was
behind it.
Without wasting a moment, William pulled out his phone and dialed Damir’s number.
Damir answered promptly. His voice was still friendly as if nothing had changed between them. “William! It’s been so long! How are you?”
William’s gaze turned cold. He had no time for Damir’s charades and cut right to the chase. “Damir, I can skip the appraisal event. Just give me the photos and negatives, along with the people who took them.”
Damir paused, clearly caught off guard. Then he played dumb. “What? William, I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Damir, you’re still a friend to me. If you care about what we once shared, give me

those negatives,” William implored,
“I honestly don’t know about any negatives, William. Are you sure you’re not mistaken?” Damir responded, feigning innocence.
“This is exhausting, Damir.” William’s patience wore thin and he said with disdain, “I once thought you had some integrity, that you wouldn’t stoop this low. Clearly, I was mistaken. You just want me to give up on that event, right? Alright, I’ll do it, but only if you hand over the photos and negatives. I’m aware of your plan to restore the Payne family’s influence in Tofral. So think wisely. Don’t make me take drastic measures that you’ll regret later.”
After a brief silence, Damir chuckled softly. “William, you’re accusing me wrongly. I have no interest in the appraisal event, and I know nothing about any photos or negatives. It seems you’re straining our friendship unnecessarily.”
William’s grip on his phone tightened as he challenged Damir, “Are you really going to keep playing dumb?!”
Damir responded with feigned ignorance, “I genuinely have no clue what you mean. What am I playing dumb about?”
Damir’s relaxed, unruffled tone only served to increase William’s anger. He ended the call abruptly before Damir could say more.
Denton, having caught parts of the conversation, had a sense of what was going on. He was about to inquire further when he saw William hurl his phone to the ground in a fit
of rage.
“William, calm down! Don’t do anything rash,” he cautioned, trying to calm him.
William took a deep breath to regain his composure and then instructed, “Denton, continue your investigation. Focus on Damir’s recent activities, his contacts, and investigate his close associates. I’m convinced there’s evidence out there.”
“Understood,” Denton replied.
Then, Denton thought of something and appeared worried. “What about Renee? It seems someone has been probing into what happened that night at the bar.”
William’s face turned stern as he asked in a low voice, “Did you make sure everything
was cleaned up?”
Denton reassured him. “Don’t worry; it’s all been taken care of. There’s nothing to find. But… do you think it could be Renee looking into it?”
