Chapter 353 A Little Punishment
Ever since William overheard Renee’s phone call with Ryder that morning, something felt off between them. William was usually quiet, but today, his silence was heavier,
more noticeable.
He didn’t seem angry, but the unease still gnawed at Renee, and she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.
Desperate to break the tension, Renee tried to start a conversation.
“Are there any apples?” she asked.
Without a word, William went to peel one for her.
Renee pressed on, “Are there any
drinks?”
Instead of pouring her a drink, William silently heated up some milk.
Still, he didn’t say a word. He simply handed her the peeled apple and set the warm
milk beside her.
Renee stared at the food in front of her, speechless. A quiet frustration bubbled up, and she decided to push him.
“Are there any peanuts?” she asked, her voice cool.
William paused, but then, to her surprise, went off to search for some. After a moment, he returned, holding a packet, his face lighting up with a triumphant smile as he placed
it in front of her.
Annoyed, Renee pushed further. “These are salted. Are there any unsalted ones?”
This time, William looked up at her, the silence between them shifting.
Renee lifted her chin, challenging him with her gaze, daring him to do something about
William finally broke the silence. “Renee, stop being difficult.”

Renee snorted, a smirk tugging at her lips. “When things are good, you call me Nene, but now you’re using my name again? What’s that about, William?”
William shot her a sullen look. “You’re calling me by my name too. There’s no pet name or anything sweet.”
There was a brief pause before he added, “What do
Renee replied without thinking, “Mr. Chadwick.”
you call Ryder?”
William scoffed, his expression twisting into something between annoyance and
amusement. “Humph.”
Renee blinked, taken aback by his reaction.
So, what was there to be angry about?
Renee raised an eyebrow, curiosity getting the best of her. “What? Are you jealous? Should I start calling you… Mr. Mitchell now?”
“Renee!” William snapped, emphasizing her name, his voice sharper than usual.
Renee immediately felt a shift. She knew the type-men were impossible to calm down once they were genuinely upset.
Now, what was she supposed to do? Maybe a kiss would smooth things over?
With that thought in mind, Renee stood up and walked over to William. He turned his face away, clearly still upset, refusing to meet her gaze. But Renee wasn’t having it. She reached out, cupping his face and gently turning it back toward her.
“You-” William started, but before he could finish, Renee pressed a firm kiss to his lips.
The kiss was louder than she expected, and it left her feeling embarrassingly exposed.
Just as she started to pull away, William’s hand slid to the back of her head, holding her there, refusing to let go.
Renee froze. “What are you doing?”
William’s voice dropped, steady but firm. “One kiss isn’t enough.”
His gaze darkened, a spark of intensity flashing in his eyes. He leaned in, this time not just a quick peck, but a deep, lingering kiss-one that carried a quiet, undeniable dominance.

Renee’s mind went blank, her body growing weak as if every ounce of strength had evaporated. Instinctively, she grasped at William’s shirt, holding on as if it were the only thing keeping her grounded.
It felt like forever before William finally pulled away. Both of them were left breathless,
the air thick with tension.
Renee’s face burned with heat as she shot him a reproachful glare. “Are you trying to devour me? That was more than just a kiss!”
William’s lips curled into a teasing smile. He reached out, gently pinching her cheek, his voice still rough from their kiss. “Consider it a little punishment for making me angry earlier.”
Renee huffed, feigning annoyance. “So, are you still mad? I even took the initiative to placate you, William. I never do that for anyone!”
Without warning, William pulled her into his arms, his chin resting against her hair. His voice softened as he whispered, “I’m not mad anymore. But, Renee… can you stay away from Ryder from now on? You have no idea how jealous I am of him.”
Renee froze, caught off guard. She never imagined those words would come out of
William’s mouth.
