Chapter 349 Where Were You Last Night

Aiken was aware of William’s anxiousness and didn’t hesitate to deliver the results directly. “William, the blood tests indicate that Renee was drugged with a sedative that’s kind of new and won’t leave her with any memory when she wakes up,” Aiken

explained.

Upon hearing this, William’s expression darkened instantly, his fists clenched tightly, the knuckles whitening from the strain.

“When will she wake up?” William inquired.

“Don’t worry. I’ll administer an injection, and she should be awake shortly.” Aiken

reassured him.

This news slightly calmed William.

After administering the injection to Renee, Aiken took the moment to probe further. “So, who could be behind this?”

William, sidestepping the question, asked, “Is it possible to trace the source of the drug?”

His voice was a low growl, tense and strained.

Aiken shook his head, a look of helplessness crossing his face. “Like I said, it’s new. Pinpointing its origin will take more time and deeper investigation.”

William closed his eyes, trying to control his rising anger and worry. After a brief moment, his eyes snapped open, revealing a steely resolve. “Ensure no one knows I was here today.”

“I understand. My lips are sealed,” Aiken promised.

William nodded and turned his attention back to Renee, tenderly brushing a strand of

hair from her forehead.

Suddenly, Renee’s fingers moved.

“Renee!” William exclaimed, concern lacing his voice.

Her eyes fluttered open, her gaze unfocused, slowly bringing William’s face into view.

Her voice, weak and shaky, broke the silence. “What happened to me?”

“Nothing-you’re fine.” William reassured her softly. He tightened his grip on her hand, asking gently, “How are you feeling? Is there any discomfort?”

Renee shook her head slightly, her expression still one of confusion.

She looked around, her brow furrowing. “Where is this place?”

“This is Aiken’s clinic,” William replied.

“Aiken?” Renee murmured, trying to place the name. She felt a vague sense of familiarity but couldn’t match a face to it.

Just then, she noticed someone standing behind William and jumped slightly.

Aiken stepped forward and introduced himself. “Renee, I’m Aiken.”

Recognition then dawned on Renee; she remembered Aiken was William’s cousin.

“Why am I here?” she asked.

“You-”

William began, but Renee, suddenly alarmed, cut him off, her eyes widening in panic. “Where’s Ryland?”

Her last clear memory was of planning to pick up Ryland at the bar, but she couldn’t recall whether she had actually gone through with it or what had transpired after her arrival. It was as if there was a gap in her memory.

A wave of unease washed over her.

“It’s okay. Ryland is fine. Don’t worry.” William reassured her, though his words did little to soothe her.

Renee remained uneasy, sensing that something was amiss.

Sighing, William handed her his phone. “You can call Ryland. He’s really fine.”

Renee took the phone, initially poised to make a voice call but decided on a video call

instead.

Ryland picked up quickly. The background indicated he was likely at home, still nestled

in bed.

“Renee? Why are you calling so early in the morning?” Ryland inquired, his eyes sleepy

and confused.

“Where were you last night?” Renee pressed.

Ryland looked even more bewildered. “I was at home! Why? What’s wrong?”

“You didn’t go to the bar?” Renee asked, her tone laden with concern.

Ryland shook his head, his glance flickering nervously to the side, likely worried about being misunderstood. He reassured her repeatedly, “Renee, I was really at home all night! I haven’t been to any bar in a long time! I swear!”
