Chapter 343 Seduce Him
Jarrod and Sylvia settled into the car, driving in silence for some time while Sylvia cast occasional glances his way.
“I’m sorry-” she murmured.
Jarrod turned to her, his expression filled with confusion.
“I didn’t realize she was a classmate of yours. When we were there, I saw her stealing glances at you, and I thought-Sorry, it was petty of me,” Sylvia confessed in a hushed
tone.
“You thought she was trying to seduce me?” Jarrod inquired sharply.
Sylvia looked away, her embarrassment evident.
Jarrod continued, “Were you feeling jealous?”
“I wasn’t-” Sylvia began, halting abruptly. A faint smirk crossed Jarrod’s face.
As they continued their journey, Jarrod broke the silence. “You know, back in high school, there was a girl named Valerie in my class. She was quite a good student, one of the top. Seeing her selling phones here now was unexpected.”
Valerie must have been quite exceptional, given her academic prowess back then.
Sylvia felt a mix of emotions-embarrassment from her previous jealousy and curiosity about Valerie’s past. “Were you close to her back then?” she asked impulsively, regretting the question almost immediately.
Jarrod, noticing her discomfort, smiled and replied, “Not really. We were just classmates. I was so absorbed in my studies during high school that I didn’t really
socialize much.”
Relief swept over Sylvia, yet she couldn’t help but comment, “But the way she looked at you earlier seemed to suggest otherwise. Considering how handsome and successful you were, I bet many girls had crushes on you back then.”
Jarrod laughed softly, teasing, “There were quite a few, indeed.”
Silence fell over Sylvia.
The car moved steadily along the road. Although Sylvia gazed out at the quickly passing scenery, her thoughts remained on Valerie, seeing in her a reflection of her younger
self.
Sylvia sensed it-Valerie had once harbored feelings for Jarrod. Perhaps, even now, he remained the one she admired in secret.
Due to the stark contrasts in their family backgrounds and Jarrod’s dazzling presence, Valerie likely kept her feelings concealed deep within. Years later, when they met again. by chance, her affections were still veiled.
The man she once idolized had forgotten her identity. He remained beyond her reach, still captivating and charming, while she was merely a worker struggling to make ends
meet.
Approaching Jarrod earlier must have required immense courage.
She chose not to say “I’m Valerie,” but “My name is Valerie,” a subtle distinction that suggested she had resigned herself to the likelihood that Jarrod would not remember
her.
How tragic-
As for Sylvia, William had cherished her since childhood, yet even such devotion could vanish in a moment if he decided to pull away.
Suddenly, Jarrod reached out and firmly grasped her hand, pulling Sylvia from her reverie. She turned to him, her expression one of surprise.
As his grip tightened, it seemed he was afraid to release her.
The warmth of his touch gradually soothed the turmoil within Sylvia.
Unexpectedly, Jarrod declared, “Sylvia, I’m letting you use me now.”
Surprised, her eyes widened, unsure of his intent.
“I’m not using you,” Sylvia countered.
Jarrod offered no reply, only tightening his hold on her hand further.
