Chapter 338 Confronting Nigel

Renee had already made a full lap around the forest park, yet there was still no sign of Nigel. Irritation started creeping in as she redialed Ryland’s

number.

“Are you absolutely sure Nigel’s supposed to be here today?”

Ryland sounded confident. “One hundred percent! Unless, of course, it suddenly starts pouring.”

Renee narrowed her eyes. “No other possibilities? Like… maybe he’s stuck

at home with a bad case of diarrhea?” There was a brief silence.

“Renee, seriously?” Ryland finally said, exasperated.

Renee shrugged, even though he couldn’t see her. “Alright, alright, I’ll keep looking… Oh, wait. I think I just spotted him.”

As she spoke, her gaze landed on Nigel stepping out of the bathroom. She

immediately picked up her pace.

But at that moment, Nigel glanced around and promptly turned back inside.

Renee came to an abrupt stop. Her mouth fell open slightly. “Did I just jinx

it?”

“Huh? What are you talking about?” Ryland asked, clearly confused.

“Never mind, I’m hanging up. I’ll call you if I need backup.”

“Wait, what did you-”

Before he could finish, Renee had already ended the call.

Moments later, Nigel reappeared, clutching his stomach as he staggered toward the sink. He turned on the faucet, but when he looked up and spotted Renee standing there, he froze. His face paled slightly. “You…”

Renee gave him a pleasant smile and gestured toward the sink. “Mr. Olson, you haven’t washed your hands yet.”

Nigel’s expression darkened as he turned on the faucet, scrubbing his hands with deliberate force.

“If I remember correctly, you’re from the William’s-”

“My name is Renee Carter,” she cut in smoothly. “And I’m a friend of Ryland’s.”

Nigel finished washing his hands and strode past her without another word, but after only a few steps, his pace slowed.

Renee bit back a laugh and took a step aside. “Mr. Olson, don’t mind me. Please, go ahead.”

Nigel clenched his jaw, resisting the urge to snap at her. But his body betrayed him before he could form a retort, and with no other choice, he turned back toward the restroom yet again.

The third time he emerged, his complexion was ghostly pale, his steps sluggish and unsteady. He didn’t spare Renee a glance as he brushed past her, looking like he might collapse at any moment.

She wasn’t offended in the slightest. If anything, she followed him at a leisurely pace.

“Mr. Olson, are you feeling alright?” she asked, her voice dripping with false concern. The thinly veiled amusement in her tone, however, was

unmistakable.

Nigel’s jaw tightened, but he was too weak to argue. His legs wobbled beneath him, and just as he stumbled, Renee swiftly stepped in to steady him. “You’re not looking too good,” she said, tightening her grip before he

could push her away,

Nigel feebly attempted to shake her off

“I don’t… need-

Before he could finish, his knees buckled again, and in pure reflez, he clutched her arm. Without giving him a choice, Renee steered him toward a nearby bench and eased him down onto it.

For a brief moment, despite his dazed state, Nigel was stunned. How was someone her size this strong?

Renee rummaged through her bag, pulled out a water bottle, and then flipped her palm open, revealing a small pill.

“What’s that?” Nigel eyed it warily.

“Anti-diarrhea medicine,” she answered matter-of-factly.

Nigel’s face flushed a deep shade of red, more from embarrassment than the lingering physical discomfort.

“Not taking it?” Renee prodded, tilting her head.

Nigel hesitated, staring at the pill in his palm, but in the end, he grudgingly

swallowed it.

A long silence stretched between them before he finally spoke. “What do you want from me?” His voice was still hoarse, but his sharp gaze was regaining its edge.

Renee didn’t waste time. “There’s a treasure appraisal event at the end of the month. We’d like you to attend with the Infinity Group.”

Nigel exhaled sharply. “I don’t do those kinds of events.”

“You can name your price.” Renee’s tone was casual, but it only provoked

the old man further.

Instead of softening, Nigel’s expression darkened. If he weren’t still reeling

aning Niger

from his condition, he would’ve stormed off without another word.

Noting his obvious anger, Renee’s lips curved into a knowing smirk. “Your son’s now in Mistralia, right? Did you know he got a girl pregnant, refused to take responsibility, beat her until she miscarried, and then tossed her aside like garbage?”
