Chapter 337 Who Hit You
The following day, Renee stirred from her sleep only to notice the bright sunlight streaming through the window. She glanced at her phone and was stunned to find it was already 12:30 PM!
She couldn’t believe she had overslept!
It had been three years since she last woke up this late. Her mornings were typically spent in early training sessions, and the luxury of sleeping in was a distant memory.
Now, it felt strangely relaxed but also tinged with a slight feeling of guilt.
“Oh my! What happened to you?” Esme’s surprised voice came from
downstairs.
“Daddy! Did someone hit you?” Felix asked with innocent concern.
Renee shook off her grogginess. She wasn’t at the Mitchell mansion. Obviously, Esme had come to drop Felix off. And what was that Felix just
said?
William had been hit?
With a worried expression, Renee quickly got dressed and made her way
downstairs.
Felix was snuggling to William’s side, Esme was searching through the drawers for something, and William was absorbed in reading something on
his tablet.
Renee looked closer and noticed a vivid red mark on one side of William’s
face.
“What happened!?” she exclaimed, pointing at him in shock. “Who did this
to you?
William remained engrossed in what he was doing and dismissed her concern casually. “It’s fine. Doesn’t really hurt.”
Esme, having found a bottle of pain-relief spray, approached him with frustration. “How can you say it doesn’t hurt with such a big mark? Who did it? Who would dare cross us? The Mitchell family is still standing strong, and yet someone thinks they can trample on us?”
“Mom…” William finally looked up, his face marked with annoyance. “It’s really not that big of a deal.”
“How can it not be a big deal!” Renee exclaimed, anger flaring within her. If she caught whoever did this, she would definitely hit them hard!
In the midst of their family’s crisis, someone was already stepping on William?
“Here, let me spray some medicine on it.”
William recoiled slightly, eyeing the bottle with disgust. “What is that?”
“It’s for the swelling. It will help it heal faster.”
William frowned, clearly averse to using it. The smell alone was off-putting
to him.
“Why are you avoiding it!” Renee asked, visibly annoyed.
William replied, “I’m not going to the office today anyway. It’ll be fine by
tomorrow.”
Esme was still visibly upset by the assault on her son. “Use it, and it’ll heal quicker! And you, an elite from the special forces, how could you let yourself get hit like this?”
Hearing what Esme said, Renee paused, suddenly remembering something.
Typically, a slap like that was a woman’s handiwork, and since they were
together last night. Could it be…
Renee’s mind raced for explanations. Her cheeks flushed as she saw William’s resigned look and realized what happened.
“Um… Felix!”
“Mommy!” Felix chirped eagerly.
Renee avoided eye contact with William. She awkwardly turned to Felix and said, “Go help your daddy. Take the medicine and spray it on his cheek.”
Felix scampered towards Esme on his little legs and exclaimed, “Grandma,
medicine!”
Esme’s stern face softened into a smile. “Oh, you want to help Daddy with his medicine? What a good boy you are!”
“Yes! Spray the medicine on Daddy!”
Felix clutched the bottle and tottered back to William, who spread his arms and picked him up.
“Daddy, spray medicine.”
Now, William seemed to forget his dislike for the spray’s smell. He tilted his head down for Felix. “Thank you, Felix, for helping Daddy.”
Handling the spray was a bit of a challenge for Felix, but William waited with patience. Felix applied the spray diligently and asked, “Daddy, does it
hurt?”
“No, buddy,” William assured him.
“Who hit Daddy? I will get them!” Felix proclaimed, with righteous indignation.
Renee, watching from the sidelines, scratched her nose awkwardly.
Then she heard William reply with a smile, “A little puppy did it, but Daddy has already dealt with it!”
