Chapter 333 Jarrod’s Scheme
Right after William stopped talking, Renee glanced up and noticed Jarrod moving toward Nigel to initiate a conversation. Jarrod’s words quickly brightened Nigel’s spirits, dissolving the previous tension brought on by Orlando. He had managed to cheer Nigel up with just a few words.
Renee frowned slightly and turned sharply to William. “He…”
William looked troubled as well.
With a quick look, Renee beckoned Ryland to join them.
Seizing the moment, Ryland walked over.
“What’s up, Renee?” Ryland asked.
“What’s going on over there?” Renee asked, nodding subtly in where Nigel was sitting.
“Mr. Doyle? Oh, my godfather has taken up a new hobby, which is calligraphy. And you know what? His idol is actually Mr. Doyle’s teacher.”
While Ryland explained, a table was being arranged close by, and it looked like Jarrod was getting ready to demonstrate his skills right then and there!
Renee and William looked at each other.
“Looks like Jarrod has been hiding his cards well,” Renee muttered under her breath, frowning.
William gave a slight nod, his attention locked on Jarrod, who was busy getting ready. Jarrod’s movements were fluid and effortless, clearly the result of years of experience.
Chapter 333
Is Scheme
“Ryland, has Jarrod ever visited Mr. Olson before today?” Renee asked, turning toward Ryland.
Ryland scratched his head, looking puzzled. “I can’t say for sure. I rarely see my godfather these days.”
By this time, the space around them had filled with people, all excited to see Jarrod work his magic.
Nigel was close by, watching with a satisfied grin.
Jarrod’s wrist moved elegantly as the brush pen touched the paper. In no time, he completed a beautiful birthday wish for Nigel.
The crowd burst into cheers, and Nigel, beaming with pride, nodded repeatedly.
“The talent in the younger generation is remarkable! I had no clue Mr. Doyle was this skilled!”
Jarrod responded humbly, “Thank you, Nigel. I’m just sharing a little of what I can do. Actually, I intended to bring a renowned piece by Emmitt Torres for you today. But then I worried it might get damaged in the midst of the hustle bustle. I’ll bring it to your house myself later, if that’s alright.”
Nigel’s face lit up at the mention of Emmitt Torres, whose artwork he had been passionately studying and imitating.
“Excellent! Excellent! Ryland!”
When Nigel called his name, Ryland began to move forward but then paused and signaled for Renee and William to come along.
“Ryland, be sure to bring Mr. Doyle to my house later. It’s about time you joined me for a meal again,” Nigel said.
Ryland readily agreed. “I’ve been looking forward to a chess match with you!”
“That settles it then!” Nigel replied cheerfully.
Ryland continued sweetly, nodding toward William, “This is my friend Mr. Mitchell. He has a matter to discuss with you, perhaps…”
“Oh… Mr. Mitchell, I recognize you. You’re Eric’s son, right?”
William stepped up, offering a polite nod. “Yes, Mr. Olson. Happy birthday to you!”
“Thank you, Mr. Mitchell.” Nigel responded, and then turned his attention back to Ryland. “See, Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Doyle are both making their mark. And you, you’re still playing around. I’ve talked to you about getting you a proper job. Have you thought more about that?”
Though Nigel seemed to be reprimanding Ryland, his real intent was to evade William entirely. He wasn’t open to a deeper conversation with him.
