“What’s going on? Nixon isn’t coming?” Deanna’s irritation was clear. They had planned this meeting to discuss their collaboration, but Nixon was nowhere to be seen. Several calls had been made, yet not one was
answered.
“Did he change his mind and back out? Mr. Doyle, maybe you should give him a call and find out since he isn’t answering ours,” Orlando suggested.
Jarrod picked up his coffee cup, took a slow sip, and spoke with a calm certainty. “If he was serious about working with us, he wouldn’t keep us waiting. If he’s not showing the right attitude, why should we chase after
him?”
Deanna nodded in agreement. “Mr. Doyle is right. I was never too keen on Nixon joining us anyway. His daughter is William’s woman. How do we know he won’t favor her interests over ours?”
Orlando stood up, looking at the people present with a broad smile. “Then let’s move forward without him. Our goal remains the same to bring down the Mitchell family.”
As long as we work together and take control of the project William’s company is eyeing, he won’t stand a chance. Once he falls, how much longer do you think Eric can hold onto his position? And trust me, I have plenty of ways to bring him down too.”
Jarrod smirked. “Oh? Mr. Perez, care to share?”
Orlando let out a deep, satisfied laugh. “Once Eric steps down, that’s when we take the spotlight! Mr. Doyle, when that day comes, I expect you to
remember our alliance.”

“Of course,” Jarrod said smoothly. “But from the way you’re speaking, Mr. Perez, I have to ask-are you planning to take Eric’s seat for yourself?”

Orlando simply threw his head back, laughing loudly.
Deanna arched an eyebrow, intrigued. “In that case, Mr. Perez, we should
celebrate in advance.”
Orlando grinned. “Miss Fuller, I’ll be counting on your support when the time comes. You truly are an exceptional woman.”
The three of them raised their cups, clinking them together as if they were toasting with fine wine.
Their discussion continued without pause, and their mutual understanding was crystal clear. Though there was no alcohol involved, Orlando was
swept up in the lively exchange, his enthusiasm growing. Noticing his high spirits, Jarrod leaned forward and asked, “Mr. Perez, you seem to be in an excellent mood lately. Did you happen to land a lucrative deal?”
He studied Orlando for a moment before adding, “Since you’re so confident
about getting Eric’s position, I assume you’ve made connections with some influential figure. Care to introduce us?”
Orlando chuckled, waving a hand dismissively. “Mr. Doyle, you’re too
humble! You’re already a major player in Tofral. Who in this city hasn’t
heard of your name?”
His words dripped with flattery. Orlando had a reputation for his smooth talk, always knowing the right words to please those in power. It was a
skill that had served him well.
Lowering his voice, Orlando leaned in slightly and added, “Mr. Doyle, you’re absolutely right. I did meet someone. The only reason I’m this confident is
because of him.”
The secrecy was unnecessary. With just the three of them in the private room, no one else could hear whether he whispered or not.
“Mr. Doyle, Miss Fuller, trust me on this. If we work together against William and that person makes a move against Eric, the Mitchell family won’t have a chance at all.”
This time, Jarrod picked up the coffee pot and poured a fresh cup for Orlando. The gesture only fueled Orlando’s excitement. He straightened up, grinning. “Much appreciated, Mr. Doyle!” Though outwardly grateful, he was reveling in his own self-importance.
Feeling emboldened, he let his guard down. “Mr. Doyle, have you heard of the Payne family?”
Jarrod frowned slightly. “Which Payne family?”
Orlando scoffed. “How many Payne families do you think exist in Tofral? I’m talking about that one.”
