Chapter 318 Please Forgive

Me

“Searching for evidence, are you?” Renee let out a soft chuckle. With one hand pinning Stetson down, she pulled out her phone, tapping the screen a few times before saying, “Check your phone, Nixon. I just sent you the video. But fair warning-you might want to brace yourself.”

Sally’s stomach twisted.

Nixon pulled out his phone. The moment his eyes landed on the thumbnail, his grip tightened around the device. His blood boiled.

Instinctively, his gaze snapped to Sally, ice-cold and unreadable. Tears welled in her eyes as she shook her head, desperation etched across her face, silently begging him to believe her.

Ignoring her, he pressed play.

At once, the living room filled with lewd sounds-breathless moans, hushed whispers, the unmistakable rhythm of betrayal. Even Caitlyn, the elderly housekeeper, averted her gaze, her face flushing with

embarrassment.

The air grew thick, heavy with something rotten.

Nixon’s expression darkened. His grip on the phone tightened, veins bulging at his temples, his rage teetering on the edge of eruption.

Nixon’s glare burned into the screen, as if sheer rage alone could reduce the disgraceful scene to ashes. Sally’s legs buckled. She barely caught herself before collapsing.

The delicate, pitiful mask she always wore had shattered. Fear twisted her

features, sweat beading along her brow. Her lips parted, trembling, desperate to form an excuse-but nothing came. It was as if the air had been stolen from her lungs.

Slowly, Nixon lifted his head, his gaze locking onto her with deadly precision. “Is this true?” His voice was eerily calm, but the storm beneath it was unmistakable.

Sally’s trembling form said more than words ever could.

Off to the side, Renee smirked, her amusement barely concealed.

Renee’s voice sliced through the silence, crisp and laced with ice. “This is the woman you treasure so much, Nixon.”

His grip on the phone tightened until his knuckles turned white. Then, with

a violent burst of rage, he hurled it to the floor. The device shattered on impact, the sharp crack echoing through the room. “Sally!” His roar shook the walls. “Explain this to me!”

His voice thundered the “!”

She collapsed to her knees with a heavy thud, the weight of her swollen belly making the movement clumsy. Sobbing uncontrollably, she crawled to Nixon’s feet. “Nixon, I was wrong! So, so wrong! Please, just this once- please forgive me!” Her voice cracked as she clung to the hem of his pants. “It was Stetson! He threatened me-I had no choice!”

Stetson, watching the chaos unfold, quickly regained his composure. Then, with a cold, mocking laugh, he leaned back as if he had all the time in the world. “That’s right. I threatened her! So what? What are you gonna do about it?” His tone dripped with contempt. “Call the police? Go ahead! The moment you do, your beloved wife’s reputation will be in shambles. And you, Mr. Carter-your pristine image? It’ll crumble right along with hers.”

He sneered, crossing his arms. “Ha! That’s what you rich folks care about the most, isn’t it? Keeping up appearances. I bet you don’t even have the guts to lay a finger on me.”

“You-You-” Nixon’s hand trembled violently as he pointed at the shameless pair, his fury choking off his words. His chest heaved, his breaths coming in short, ragged gasps. Color drained from his face, only to surge back in an alarming shade of red. Then, without warning, his body lurched. He collapsed backward.

“Nixon!” Sally’s scream cut through the room, but she didn’t move. She stood frozen, her panic-stricken eyes locked on his unmoving form.

Renee shoved Stetson aside and lunged forward, catching Nixon just before he hit the floor. She eased him onto the sofa, fingers pressing against his pulse. His breathing was ragged, uneven-but she steadied him, her grip firm, her movements precise. A tense moment passed. Then another.

Finally, Nixon’s chest rose, in a deep, shuddering breath. His eyelids fluttered. Blurred vision cleared. The first thing he saw was his daughter.

“Re….. nee…” Nixon rasped, dazed, reaching for clarity.

Her face remained unreadable-calm, composed, but devoid of warmth. “Is that all it takes to bring you down?” Her voice was cool, edged with quiet

disdain.

She leaned in slightly, her gaze unwavering. “You haven’t even seen the

worst of it yet.”
