Chapter 316 Who’s Framing Who

Sally’s face drained of color as Renee mentioned the wardrobe. Her hands trembled slightly, but she quickly reminded herself to stay calm. Hearing Stetson’s words, she pushed down her panic and forced a smile. “It seems like there’s been a misunderstanding. Since this gentleman isn’t your friend, let’s just release him. Caitlyn!”

At her command, Caitlyn hurried over to untie Stetson. But as she raised her hand, Renee swiftly kicked it away.

“Ouch!” Caitlyn cried out in exaggerated pain, though it wasn’t as bad as she made it sound. She was only putting on a show to win Nixon’s sympathy. “Miss Carter, what are you doing? How can an old woman like me handle your kick? Ouch, it hurts so much.”

“Renee! How long are you going to keep causing trouble?!” Nixon roared.

Renee remained silent for a moment, and then looked at Nixon with a

sneer. “I was absolutely right calling you stupid. Can’t you see they’re acting guilty? Why are they in such a hurry to send him away? Afraid I’ll say more?”

Renee then turned to face Sally. Her voice was cold as she said, “Sally, This man is your lover. Half an hour ago, you were upstairs with him. Are you really going to deny it?”

Nixon’s face shifted dramatically. He didn’t want to believe it, but doubt crept in, and he couldn’t ignore it. His gaze locked onto Sally.

Sally’s face drained of color. Under Nixon’s piercing stare, panic flooded her eyes, and she quickly blurted, “No! It’s not true! I don’t know him!”

“You bitch! I’ll tear your mouth apart for spouting nonsense!!” Stetson cursed while signaling Caitlyn with his eyes to untie him.

Caitlyn stole a quick glance at Nixon, noting that he was too focused on Sally, waiting for her to provide a clear answer.

With a quiet, practiced motion, Caitlyn began to untie Stetson. Renee caught the movement from the corner of her eye but pretended she didn’t.

Sally, desperate to divert Nixon’s attention, spoke up. “Nixon, you have to believe me. I really don’t know him! And look at me-I’m pregnant. How could I possibly…”

Tears began to fall as Sally spoke, her voice trembling with feigned vulnerability. “Nixon, we’ve been together for so many years. Don’t you know what kind of person I am? In all these years, have you ever seen me even speak with any other men expect for the times I absolutely had to? Never, right? I can barely even talk to strangers. How could I possibly betray you?”

She choked on her words, her gaze shifting to Renee as she accused, “Renee, I know you’ve never liked me, but you don’t have to go this far to frame me, do you?”

Sally, with her eyes wide and filled with feigned hurt, turned to Nixon. “I’m

really at a loss for words. Renee, ask your father! All these years, even when you two were at odds, I’ve always tried to mediate, to help you reconcile. But now you frame me like this? Do you have any idea what this does to

my reputation?”

Beside her, Caitlyn quickly chimed in, “That’s right, Miss Carter. Mrs.

Carter has always tried to get you and your father to reconcile! Mr. Carter, Mrs. Carter barely even leaves the house these days, given her being heavily pregnant. How much hatred must one have in their heart to use such despicable methods to frame someone who has done no wrong?”

Renee stood there, watching their performance with a cold, mocking smile. Once they finished, she finally spoke, her voice calm and measured. “Are

you done? Can I speak now?”
