Unbreakable Vows: My Husband’s Silent Refusal 313

Panic flashed in Sally’s eyes. She shoved his chest. “No-just go! Now! He’ll be upstairs any second!”

He let out a low chuckle. “Upstairs for what? To be a husband? Think he can even keep up with you?”

“I’m not joking! You still have time if you leave now! If you don’t, he’ll find out everything! The first thing he does after work is check on his son!”

“His son?” The man scoffed. “That’s my son!” His voice dripped with

arrogance. “Mmm, you feel so good!”

Sally’s breath hitched. “If you don’t go now… ah… everything we worked for… ah… it’ll all be for nothing… ah…”

Heavy breathing filled the room.

Renee’s stomach twisted. She felt like she needed to scrub her ears clean,

What a filthy pair!

Just as Sally had said, Nixon followed his usual routine the moment he got home-washing his hands thoroughly and then heading upstairs to check on his son. Poor guy. He really believed the baby Sally carried was his.

Right before he stepped inside, Sally shoved the other man into the closet.

She barely had time to pull on a shirt, her lower half still exposed.

Renee climbed down from the balcony and made her way back to the front door. Knocking twice, she pulled out her phone and called him. “Nixon.”

As Nixon stepped into the room, his phone buzzed. He hesitated. After what happened with Rosa, he wasn’t about to ignore a call from Renee. He answered, sinking onto the edge of the bed as his fingers brushed Sally’s

cheek.

“What is it?” His tone was steady, but there was an edge to it.

Renee shot Caitlyn a cold look, though her words were for Nixon. “I’m at your front door. I need to talk to you, but your housekeeper won’t let me in. Tell me, Nixon, did you hire a housekeeper or a backstabber?”

He was the one signing Caitlyn’s paychecks, yet she was covering for Sally. That made her a traitor in every sense of the word.

“I’m your father. Is a little respect too much to ask?”

“Oh? And how exactly should I show respect? Nixon, Sally respects you, doesn’t she? She listens to your every word-but maybe you should ask what she’s been doing behind your back.”

Nixon’s brow furrowed. His voice dropped to a chilling tone. “What are you getting at now?”

“Come downstairs. I have questions for you.” Renee ended the call without

waiting for a response.

This time, she didn’t care if Caitlyn tried to stop her. She shoved past the housekeeper and marched inside without hesitation.

Upstairs, Nixon’s jaw tightened. He didn’t appreciate Renee’s sharp tone- or the way she’d hung up on him.

As usual, he placed a hand on Sally’s belly, his voice softening. “I’ll go see what she wants. Stay in bed and get some rest, alright? You don’t look well -your forehead’s damp.”

Sally didn’t blink. “Okay.”

won’t start wondering? After all, are you even sure whose kid you’re carrying?” Chapter 313 Don’t Forget

Where You Came From

Nixon stood up, about to leave, but then he paused as if something had just occurred to him. He turned back, his hand already moving toward his collar. “I should change first. Got a little sweaty on the way here.”

He took a step toward the wardrobe.

Sally’s lover was in there!

If he opened it, there’d be no way to explain.

Sally’s heart pounded.

Before she could think, she flung off the blanket and grabbed his arm. “Honey, I’ve missed you so much.”

Nixon froze, his eyes widening as he took in Sally-bare from the waist down. “Sally… what’s going on? Where are your pants?” His voice wavered, caught between shock and confusion.

She let out a soft, teasing sigh. “It’s just… you haven’t touched me in so long.” Then, her tone shifted, laced with feigned hurt. “Do you… not love me the same way anymore?”

His expression tightened. “How could you even say that?” Without hesitation, he pulled her into his arms, wrapping a blanket around her.

Sally leaned into him, her voice edged with quiet vulnerability. “I get it… my body’s changing. Now that I’m pregnant and fat, you don’t want me anymore, do you?”

“That’s ridiculous. Of course I want you!” Nixon cupped Sally’s face and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead. His voice softened as he reassured

her, “Sweetheart, I’ve only been holding back because I don’t want to risk hurting you or the baby. You have no idea how hard it’s been for me. Once our little one arrives, we’ll have all the time in the world, I promise.”

Sally huffed, her lips forming a small pout. “Okay. I’m thirsty. Can you get me some water-warm, not cold!”

Nixon chuckled. “Alright, alright. Whatever you want.” He got up, still intending to head toward the wardrobe.

Sally’s heart pounded. Seeing this, she quickly grabbed his arm, her voice sharpening. “Why are you still standing here? Go get the water for me!”

“I’ll just change my clothes first real quick, alright?”

“No! I want water now! See? You’re avoiding me on purpose!”

Noticing the frustration rising in Sally’s voice, Nixon quickly backtracked. “Alright, alright! I’m going right now!”

Without another word, he rushed out of the room.

The moment the door clicked shut, Sally let out a long breath, her chest rising and falling with relief. That was way too close. But there was no time

to relax.

“Get out now! Before he comes back! Use the balcony!” Sally whispered

urgently.

The wardrobe door creaked open, revealing a man who looked completely unfazed despite nearly being caught.

He stepped out, his tone lazy as he drawled. “What’s with the panic?” His gaze darkened as he tilted Sally’s chin up. “You were all sweet and doting with him just now. Why don’t I ever get that side of you?”

Before she could respond, his grip tightened, sending a sharp sting through her jaw. Her eyes burned with unshed tears.

“Stetson Becker!” Sally seethed, her glare cutting. “You’re always pulling

this-why are you being rough with me? Don’t forget who’s funding your lifestyle right now!”

Stetson’s grip loosened slightly, but his eyes still burned with cold contempt. His voice dropped to a taunting murmur. “Don’t forget where you came from, Sally. You might play the part of a rich man’s wife now, but underneath all that luxury, you’re still the same woman you’ve always been-a cheap whore.”

With a cruel smirk, he yanked the blanket from her shoulders.

Sally gasped, heat flooding her face-a mix of rage and humiliation. Scrambling to cover herself, she clutched the fabric tightly, her glare seething.

“Stetson, you’re a real piece of work. If you don’t stop this, I swear you

won’t see another cent from me.”

Stetson let out a cold laugh. “Oh, is that a threat? You think you have the upper hand here? If I start talking, your perfect little world will come crashing down. Do you really think Nixon
