Chapter 302 What She Is Capable Of
“Damir!”
The moment Sylvia stepped out of the airport, her eyes found her brother–standing by the car, as if waiting just for her. Without a second thought, she ran toward him, launching herself into his arms.
Damir froze for a second, surprised, but as soon as he realized it was really his precious sister, he wrapped her
in a tight hug.
“You’ve grown up so much, but you’re still my little sister at heart, aren’t you?” he said with a soft chuckle.
Sylvia swayed in his arms, her voice light with affection. “I’ve missed you so much! It’s been way too long.”
“I miss you, too. You’re my sister. If you can’t be yourself with me, who else can you be honest with? That stubborn Mitchell guy?”
Sylvia pulled away slightly, rolling her eyes. “You’re such a buzzkill. Can we not talk about him?”
Damir snorted, a touch of disdain in his voice. “Finally coming to your senses? I told you to give up on him, but you wouldn’t listen. Now look at you–hurt again.”
Sylvia sighed, rolling her eyes. “Oh, come on, Damir-”
When he saw the genuine upset in her eyes, Damir’s teasing stopped. He softened, shifting the topic. “You did great this time. With those influential families in Tofral at each other’s throats, we just sit back, let them tear each other apart, and swoop in to grab the rewards. Our Payne family’s given them enough room to maneuver;
it’s time to take back what’s ours.”
Sylvia climbed into Damir’s car, spotting her favorite snacks neatly laid out on the seat. He’d thought ahead, knowing she’d probably be starving after the long flight.
Upon seeing all the treats, a wave of warmth washed over her. No matter what happened, his love for her remained constant–unshaken by anything life threw their way.
“Don’t worry, Damir. This time, we’re going to make a real impact on the Mitchell family. They owe us that
much.”
Damir’s hand landed gently on her head, a rare moment of affection. “You’re brilliant. If it weren’t for you using the Doyle family to strike at the Mitchells and secretly bringing in the Perezs and the Carters, our plan wouldn’t have been such a success. Now, you can take a break and enjoy yourself. Leave the rest to me.”
As the car rolled on, Damir’s eyes flicked to Sylvia with a sudden thought. “By the way, how did you end up getting close to Jarrod? Why’s he so loyal to you?”
Sylvia froze for a moment, a chip halfway to her mouth. Her expression shifted, as if a dark memory had crept
up on her.
Damir’s brow furrowed, a sharp edge of concern creeping into his voice. “What’s wrong? Are you okay? Gerry mentioned something went off with our plan. It was supposed to be a fake move to disarm Esme, so we could use her again when we get back to Tofral. Who would’ve thought Renee would get involved?”
“I’m fine, Damir. No need to worry. Maybe it’s just the long flight. And Renee… Ugh, she’s always been so
annoying!”
Damir chuckled, shaking his head. “Renee’s something else, isn’t she? To catch you from that height without a scratch? Kind of impressive. Where did a pampered girl like her learn to do that?”
Sylvia shrugged, a touch of bitterness in her voice. “Who knows? She was gone for three years, and then came
back a completely different person.”
The conversation flowed easily as Damir drove Sylvia home. As they pulled up, a group of servants greeted them,
and Sylvia stepped out of the car.
“I’ve got some work to do, but I’ll be back to join you for dinner. If you need anything, just let them know.”
“Okay, see you tonight!” Sylvia waved as she stepped out, the car pulling away with a soft hum.
As the car sped away, the smile on Damir’s face faded, replaced by a sharp focus. He pulled out his phone, scrolled through his contacts, and dialed a number.
When the call connected, he gave a calm but firm order. “Find out what went down between Sylvia and Jarrod while she was in Tofral. I want to know how they met, how often they’ve seen each other–every last detail.
The more, the better.”
