Chapter 284 She Can Be Of Help
In the age of the internet, news spreads like wildfire, and nothing stays hidden for long.
Within days, as the situation continued to escalate, observant media outlets noticed that Etta had mysteriously vanished from the public eye.
Soon, whispers about her potential arrest began circulating like wildfire.
In the entertainment world, once such rumors started circulating, it was almost inevitable that the truth would come out soon. If the agency denied the rumors, the authorities would typically release official statements to clarify the situation.
And so, Etta’s team remained tight–lipped, unwilling to offer any comment
on the matter.
However, this silence only fueled the anger of Etta’s fans.
They were quick to lash out at the agency for its lack of response and its failure to protect their idol.
Meanwhile, Etta’s rivals were quick to seize the opportunity, unleashing a series of scandals meant to tarnish her image.
Rumors began to surface that Etta had often thrown tantrums on set, belittling staff and even reducing an assistant to tears over trivial matters.
As these stories spread, many of Etta’s supporters began to turn on her.
Back in the office, Etta’s manager, Aelfric Pierce, was seething with frustration. He slammed his wine glass against the wall, the glass shattering in a violent display of anger.
“You’re all useless! Completely useless!” Aelfric yelled, his voice dripping with disdain. “You can’t even suppress one simple piece of news! What good are you to me? If you can’t control this, then find someone else’s scandal to leak! Make it as explosive as possible! We need to divert the public’s attention from Etta, no matter what it takes. Didn’t that so–called diva secretly have a child last month? Expose her! The more scandalous, the better!”
An assistant sitting nearby flinched at his outburst but responded obediently, “Yes, Mr. Pierce.”
Aelfric paused, a sinister gleam flashing in his eyes as a new idea took root in his mind. “Find out everything about Renee Cater. See if she has any skeletons in her closet. We can’t afford to let them run over us like this!”
The assistant nodded hurriedly and then dashed out of the room.
Moments later, she returned, her voice urgent. “Mr. Pierce, someone is here to see you!”
Aelfric, already frustrated and overwhelmed with the mess Etta had gotten herself into, barely looked up.
“Not interested!” he snapped dismissively.
The assistant’s face was bright as she exclaimed, “Mr. Pierce, she says she can be of help!”
Aelfric arched an eyebrow in surprise. “Let her in.”
A moment later, the assistant ushered in a woman.
The woman carried herself with an air of elegance, her figure accentuated by a perfectly tailored black dress, her makeup thick, her eyes glimmering with sharp, calculating intent.
As she stepped in, she gave Aelfric a subtle nod, a smile playing on her lips that held some unspoken meaning.
“Mr. Pierce, it’s an honor to finally meet you. I have long admired your work. My name is Ivory Moran,” she said, her voice soft yet carrying an unmistakable hint of danger.
Aelfric scrutinized her, his brow furrowing ever so slightly. “You claim you can help me. Why should I trust you?” he asked.
Ivory’s smile deepened as she gracefully moved toward the sofa, sitting down with poise and crossing her legs. “I was once a nurse at a military hospital. My career ended because of Renee. So, it seems we have a shared enemy.”
“Wait, it’s you?” Aelfric’s expression shifted, recognition dawning on him.
Aelfric now remembered that she was the nurse who had gone public, accusing Renee of abusing her position. In the video, she didn’t wear any makeup. That was why he hadn’t recognized her earlier.
This could prove useful. Aelfric was eager to see what Ivory was planning to do.
“Karin, fetch us some coffee,” he instructed his assistant, who quickly exited to prepare the coffee.
Turning back to Ivory, Aelfric flashed a faint smile. “So, Miss Moran, what’s your plan?”
Ivory leaned forward, her voice lowering to a whisper. “Renee has a son…”
