Chapter 282 All Of You Are Corrupt
In the distance, the shrill wail of police sirens grew louder, signaling their
approach.
The moment the fans heard the sirens, their faces lit up with eager
anticipation.
Before long, three police cars screeched to a halt at the mouth of the alley, and a dozen officers stepped out, their presence commanding attention.
When the fans saw the police, their excitement was palpable, as though they had just seen their saviors arrive. The man who had been slapped by Denton earlier seized the moment, leaping to his feet and shouting, “Officers! Help! These people attacked us and tied us up! Look, our friend is injured! Officers, over here!”
Denton moved quickly, walking over and delivering another sharp slap to the man, sending him stumbling back several steps before the black–suited men forced him back into a crouch.
“Stay down!” Denton warned with cold authority.
“Officers! Officers…” the man, refusing to relent, called out again for help, but what happened next left him utterly stunned.
The police officers, instead of giving him attention, approached William and greeted him with respect.
The entire group of people froze, dumbstruck.
Even the police were siding with Renee! Who was left to help them now?
Were they really about to be hauled away to the station and charged?
But they hadn’t even achieved their goal yet!
“You… You…” one of them stammered, furious. “This is outrageous!”
“What about the law? You’re the police! Aren’t you supposed to uphold justice?” another one yelled.
Several officers approached them, their stern expressions and strong presence sending a clear message. “You’re suspected of assembling with the intent to cause trouble. You all need to come with us for questioning!”
“Why? Look around! We’re the ones on the ground! You should be arresting them! Just because they hold power, you’re twisting the truth for them?” one of them screamed, furious.
“Enough!” Denton barked, delivering a swift kick to the man, sending him tumbling and howling in pain as he rolled across the ground.
The others, growing more enraged, tried to get to their feet, eager to confront Denton, but the black–suited men held them down with firm hands.
“What kind of police are you?” one of them shouted, their voice trembling with indignation.
“Can’t you see what’s happening here? Where is your sense of right and wrong?” another person shouted in desperation.
“Corrupt cops! All of you are corrupt! I’ll make sure to report you all!”
Denton, visibly enraged, pointed at each one of them, and the effect was immediate. Those he pointed at fell into an uncomfortable silence in an instant.
“Wasn’t it you who followed Renee first?” Denton demanded, his voice sharp and accusatory.
No one responded; they just lowered their heads, unable to meet his gaze.
“Wasn’t it you who trapped her here?” Denton pressed further.
Again, no one spoke; their heads sank even lower.
That was the truth–it was just that none of them had anticipated how skilled Renee was at fighting.
Denton’s voice grew colder as he spoke again. “If we had arrived even a moment later, what would have happened to her with all of you attacking her? If each of you had just landed one punch, she would have been half- dead by now! And you have the audacity to say this is unjust? You all have no shame!”
His words hit the group hard, and they felt humiliated. But one person, still unwilling to back down, pointed at Renee and retorted, “But she is fine now! If she hadn’t bullied Etta first, none of this would have happened!”
Once one person spoke up, the rest felt emboldened to join in.
“What kind of tricks did you use to have Etta brought in for questioning? Officers, Etta is a good person! She’s kind–hearted, and you can’t wrongfully accuse someone like her!”
“If Etta is truly being wronged, I will take this to court no matter what I
have to do!”
Fuming, the man who had just spoken turned on the police, his rage boiling over. “And you cops, what good are you? You take a salary from the country but can’t even do your jobs properly! What’s the point of having you around?”
