“Are you Renee?” one of the people demanded, tilting his chin up with a
sneer.
Renee barely spared him a glance, her expression laced with contempt. She didn’t bother answering.
The man’s patience wore thin. His voice sharpened. “I’m talking to you! Are
you Renee or not?”
Unruffled, Renee replied casually, “No.”
“She is lying! It’s her! I would recognize that smug face anywhere!” another person hissed, pointing a finger in Renee’s direction.
Hearing that, Renee let out a cold laugh. “Well, since you’ve already known it’s me, why even ask? What, would you let me walk away if I denied it?”
“In your dreams! Do you think we’ll just forgive and forget after what you did to Etta? You heartless bitch!”
“Oh?” Renee cocked her head mockingly. “And what exactly did I do to her? Did I give her a stroke by hitting her? Or did I turn her into an idiot?”
“Cut the crap! You are just trying to insult her now!”
“You just admitted it! You hit her, didn’t you? You bitch! Apologize!”
Renee let out a slow, unimpressed sigh. “Oh, sorry.”
Silence fell over the group. They hadn’t expected Renee to apologize so easily.
“You think that is enough?”
“You want us to let you off just because you said that?”
“Enough talking! Let’s just beat her up and teach her a lesson!”
The dozen or so voices overlapped, the noise grating against Renee’s ears.
She exhaled deeply and rubbed her temple, her tone tinged with impatience. “So, have you all made up your minds? What exactly are you going to do to me?”
The group of people were furious. Who the hell acted this cocky when they were outnumbered and cornered? Renee was being so infuriating!
“Film her apologizing to Etta–let’s make sure the whole world sees it!”
“Get her on her knees and make her apologize!”
“Yeah! Force her to her knees!”
A few of them surged forward, reaching to grab Renee while others whipped out their phones, eager to capture her humiliation.
Renee took a step back, looking hesitant. “How about we just drop this? I
would hate for any of you to get hurt.”
“Drop this? We can’t do that! You didn’t think about the consequences when you bullied Etta, right?”
“That’s rich! She is worried about us getting hurt? Grab her now! Let’s teach
her a lesson!”
With that, several of them lunged at Renee–one from the left, another from the right, and a third from behind, aiming straight for Renee’s head.
But Renee was faster. With the grace of a seasoned fighter, she sidestepped their clumsy attacks. Before they even realized what had happened, she slapped the one on her left, backhanded the one on her right, and in one fluid motion, seized the collar of the person behind her. With a firm grip on
the back of his neck, she forced him into a deep bow.
“Oops,” Renee murmured, a playful smirk curving her lips. “Careful now. Didn’t I warn you? I really don’t want you getting hurt.”
“Damn it! This bitch can fight!”
“How dare you hit me?”
The two women Renee had hit staggered back, their cheeks blazing red- half from the sting, half from sheer humiliation. Being struck by Renee right in front of their own crew? This was so humiliating!
One of them, still fuming, lifted a trembling hand to strike back. But compared to Renee’s reflexes, she was too slow.
Renee let the woman’s swing get close–close enough for the woman to think she might land the hit–before lazily catching her wrist mid–air.
The woman’s wrist was so delicate that with just a little pressure, Renee could snap it like a twig.
“Ahh! Let go! Let go! You crazy bitch, you’re hurting me!” the woman shrieked, struggling in vain.
