Chapter 275 Daddy, HugMe!
Just as Renee and William were discussing Esme, William’s phone rang, and it was Esme calling. William answered the call right away.
“Where’s Renee?” Esme’s voice came through, and with the car so quiet, Renee couldn’t help but listen in, her curiosity piqued by what Esme would
say next.
William responded casually, “She went home. What’s up? Do you need something?”
Esme’s tone immediately shifted, filled with discontent as she asked, “Which home are you talking about?”
William replied in a calm tone, “She went to Rose Villa.”
Esme’s voice grew louder, a clear sign of irritation. “How could you let her go back to Rose Villa alone?”
William was a bit confused. “Why not? It’s her home. Where else would she
go?”
Renee shared his confusion, wondering what Esme’s point was.
“Didn’t you see the news?” Esme said, her frustration evident. “That celebrity’s fans are blocking the entrance to Rose Villa! There are security guards at the gate, but how can you be sure there aren’t any fans inside the area waiting to attack Renee?”
William’s smile reached his eyes, but his tone remained flat as he
responded, “Oh.”
Esme, on the other end, was growing increasingly irate, her voice rising. “Oh? That’s all you’re going to say? Didn’t you claim to love her so much? Now you don’t even care about her safety?”
At the mention of “love her so much“, Renee couldn’t help but feel a warmth spread across her face.
William raised an eyebrow. “Since when did I say something like that?”
Esme’s voice sharpened with anger. “Is that really the point here?”
Her frustration was clear as she spoke.
Sensing his mother’s rising temper, William quickly took a calmer approach. “Alright, Mom. Just tell me what you want.”
Esme’s tone softened, but there was still an edge to it. “I don’t want anything. It’s Felix I’m worried about. He misses his mother terribly. He hasn’t been sleeping well these past few nights.”
William stifled a laugh. He knew better than to call out his mother’s flimsy excuse, so he simply replied, “Got it. I’ll bring Renee back so that Felix can get some rest.”
Felix was a child who had always been independent in his sleep habits. Since he was young, he had gotten used to traveling with Renee and staying in various hotels. He didn’t even care about the beds he slept in, and missing his mother wasn’t something that would keep him up at night.
Once the call ended, William turned to Renee, a playful glint in his eyes. “My mother’s excuses are getting weaker every time.”
Renee pursed her lips but didn’t respond immediately.
After a moment of silence, William exhaled deeply and asked, “So, what do you say? Will you come back and spend some time with our son?”
Renee, feigning reluctance, finally gave in, saying, “Fine, I’ll go back with you. It’s not like I have any other place to go now.”
As William started the car and drove, he glanced at her with a serious expression. “Wherever Felix and I are, that’s your home. Don’t even think about leaving us behind.”
Renee turned her head to look out the window, her thoughts wandering. She believed she was the one who had always been left behind–first by her biological father, then by the man she had once loved…
They drove quickly, and soon, the Mitchell family’s mansion appeared in the distance. From afar, Renee could see Olivia holding Felix’s hand, scanning the road with an anxious expression. The moment Felix saw William’s car, he began bouncing up and down in excitement, his energy causing Olivia to look both concerned and amused.
As the car came to a stop, Renee opened the door just in time to see Felix run toward her on his little legs, his voice filled with joy. “Mommy! Mommy!”
Renee scooped him into her arms, pressing a kiss to his soft cheek. “Did you behave yourself at home? Did you miss Mommy?” she asked.
Felix nodded enthusiastically. “I did!” But before Renee could respond, he turned to William, arms wide for a hug. “Daddy! Hug me!”
