Chapter 256 Help Me Teach
Her A Lesson
As Denton stepped into William’s hospital room, his phone rang in his pocket.
Seeing Ethan’s name on the screen, he answered the call without hesitation. The moment the call connected, Ethan’s frustrated voice spilled through the receiver.
“Denton, I got beaten up,” Ethan said.
Denton’s jaw tightened. In Tofral, who would dare lay a hand on someone from the Goodwin family?
“What happened? Where are you now?” he asked.
“I’m on Blossom Lane. There was a car accident, and some lunatic claimed I hit her car. Then she got out of her car and attacked me! Denton, my finger’s broken! You have to help me teach her a lesson!” Ethan made himself sound more pitiful than he was, trying to get Denton’s sympathy.
Denton had always indulged his cousin. Ethan had been frail as a child, sent to the countryside to recover, and only returned to the family after he had grown stronger. Everyone in the family doted on him because of that.
“Stay put. I’m on my way,” Denton said.
Without another word, Denton shot William a look, signaling his departure.
William had caught enough of the conversation to understand the situation. Without protest, he gave a small
nod.
As Denton walked to leave the room, he pressed the phone closer to his ear. “Who beat you up?”
Ethan hesitated for a moment and then replied, “Oh, Denton, you probably know her.”
“Who is it?” Denton asked.
“Renee. William’s ex–wife,” Ethan replied.
Denton had just reached the doorway when the name landed like a thunderclap. He halted mid–step, then turned sharply, his gaze locking onto William in stunned disbelief.
William narrowed his eyes in confusion, not knowing why Denton was acting like this.
Denton’s grip on his phone tightened. “Who did you just say?”
Ethan replied, “Renee! I have seen her enough times to recognize her. She is the one who hit me! Didn’t William already dump her? How does she still have the nerve to act so arrogant like that? You need to help me put her in her place!”
“Shut up!” Denton’s voice was sharp, laced with warning.
Ethan was shocked. “Denton, what’s wrong? I-
Before Ethan could get another word out, Denton ended the call. His gaze stayed fixed on William, his
expression unreadable.
William, seeing this, frowned. He said, “If you have something to say, just say it. Quit staring at me like that.”
Denton rubbed his temple in resignation and said, “Your wife beat up my cousin.”
There was a beat of silence, and then, he added, “Your wife was in a car accident on Blossom Lane.”
William’s reaction was instant. In less than two seconds, he shot upright, his good hand pressing down on the
one with the IV before yanking the needle out.
“Hey! What the hell are you doing?”
Denton lunged forward, but it was too late. William was already standing, not caring about the spot where blood was beginning to bead.
At that moment, a nurse walked in and gasped at the sight.
“Oh my! Sir! You… You can’t just pull out the IV like that!”
William strode past her without hesitation. “I’ve got an urgent matter to deal with. I’ll finish the IV later.”
“You… Wait! You can’t just do that!”
The nurse’s protests fell on deaf ears as William stormed out, dragging Denton with him.
Denton shot him a worried glance. “Are you seriously okay like this?”
William replied, “Back when I was in the military, I took a knife and lasted two days before getting my wound treated. This? This is nothing. Now hurry up and drive!”
The sheer thought of the matter made Denton’s skin crawl. He exhaled sharply. He now understood that not everyone was built to be a special forces soldier…
Realizing there was no stopping William, Denton obediently went to drive the car.
The car sped toward Blossom Lane. When they arrived, the sight before them was a mess–about eight cars crumpled together in a massive chain collision. Both Denton’s and William’s expressions were grave when they
saw the scene.
Stepping out of the car, they moved to enter the wreckage site, only to be stopped by a traffic officer near the
scene.
