Chapter 251 Clinging To
Her
Renee’s gaze lingered on Rosa’s feet, her brows knitting together. With a slight nudge, she kicked her own
slippers in Rosa’s direction, her voice carrying an edge of annoyance.. “Go ahead and wear them.”
Rosa watched the motion, panic flickering in her eyes. Hesitant and careful, she slipped her feet into the slippers, as though afraid she might soil them.
“How did you get here? Did you take a cab?” Renee inquired softly.
Rosa lowered her head, her thoughts seemingly caught in the search for the right words. After a tense pause,
she answered slowly, “I… I walked.”
Renee’s impatience began to show more clearly. She had suspected as much; Rosa’s feet were a clear sign of
her long walk. Given the distance from her home to the hospital, it was clear that walking here had taken her
at least half an hour.
Renee glanced at her, irritation welling up inside. “What brings you here?”
Rosa lifted her gaze, but no words came.
Frustration bubbled up within Renee. They had never shared a close bond. If anything, due to Sally, they had always been at odds. Yet now, it seemed as though Rosa had somehow seen Renee as her anchor!
“I’ll have your mom come pick you up,” Renee said flatly.
“No… please don’t!” Rosa’s voice was barely above a whisper, but the stubbornness in her tone was
unmistakable.
“I can’t go back…” she added, her words laced with quiet defiance.
Rosa lifted her head, her gaze hardening with determination. She gripped Renee’s hand tightly, her eyes glistening with the threat of tears.
“Renee, I… I don’t want to go back…” Her voice trembled, thick with emotion.
Renee’s brow furrowed deeply, her frustration growing clearer with each passing moment.
“I’ll get someone to take care of your wounds first,” she muttered, reaching for the call button by the bed.
A nurse entered moments later, her face obscured by a mask. Renee raised an eyebrow at the sight. What a
coincidence!
“What is it?” Ivory’s voice was cold, and her eyes softened only when they met William’s. But when they shifted to Renee, her expression became one of disdain.
“Could you help treat her wounds?” Renee asked, keeping her tone polite.

Ivory glanced at Rosa’s feet, rolling her eyes in exasperation. She turned to leave, muttering under her breath, “Why not just take her to the nurse’s station? Why bother with the button? Now I’ll have to go back for the
medical kit!”
With that, Ivory stormed off in irritation.
Not long after, she returned with the medical kit, her voice distant and cold as she addressed Rosa, “Come with
me to the treatment room.”
But after a few steps, she realized Rosa hadn’t moved. Turning back with a sharp command, she snapped,
“Come on. Let’s go!”
Rosa remained uncertain, glancing toward Renee for some sort of direction.
Renee gave a brief, assuring nod, prompting Rosa to slowly rise to her feet.
Renee, feeling irritated, had no interest in following them. She laid back on the bed, a wave of annoyance
sweeping over her. Rosa wasn’t even truly her sister–so why was she turning to Renee now?
“Aren’t you going to check on her?” William asked, his smile teasing.
Renee responded quickly, “No, it’s not my concern.”
He chuckled softly, watching her with affection, but said nothing further.
Suddenly, Ivory’s voice rang out from the next room, sharp with frustration. “Sit here! Not there! You’re sitting too far away! How am I supposed to treat your wound?”
O
Renee, overwhelmed, tossed her phone aside in frustration and shut her eyes, trying to block out the noise.
William, seeing her frustration, simply shook his head with a smile, offering no words.
Ivory’s voice echoed once again, harsh and demanding. “Hurry up! I told you to sit here! Here! What? Do you expect me to get on my knees just to disinfect your wound?”
Renee, unable to block it out any further, abruptly sat up.
