Chapter 248 Come At Me
All At Once
Felix’s cries briefly silenced the argument, halting the tension in the room. But he still whimpered softly in Renee’s arms, his small body trembling against hers.
Just then, the door swung open, and several men in military uniforms
marched in.
Olivia had let them in. Renee’s eyes turned icy at the sight.
They were here for her.
Without thinking, she pulled Felix even closer, her arms wrapped protectively around him.
“Olivia, take Felix upstairs,” Eric commanded, his voice sharp.
Olivia hesitated for a moment, but then stepped toward Renee with a polite expression. “Perhaps… let me take Felix upstairs to play for a bit. Maybe you should leave for now.”
She leaned in slightly, making sure only Renee could hear.
Olivia was genuinely worried that Renee might get hurt.
Gently, she took Felix’s hand and led him out of the living room, carefully guiding him upstairs. Despite his young age, Felix had already figured out who treated him with kindness and who didn’t.
Olivia’s warmth and sincerity didn’t go unnoticed by him. In the short time they had spent together, he could feel the difference. He followed her willingly, trusting her without question.
As their figures disappeared at the top of the stairs, Renee’s gaze turned cold as she faced the soldiers who had entered.
Renee sized the men up and concluded that none of these soldiers would
stand a chance against her if it came to an one–on–one fight.
“What do you intend to do?” Renee asked, her voice cold and steady.
“Renee, out of respect for you as Felix’s mother, I didn’t want to make things difficult,” Eric said, his eyes narrowing as he tried to impose his authority. “But if you keep resisting, don’t blame us for taking whatever steps are necessary,” Eric said.
His words were sharp, meant to intimidate.
But Renee’s gaze never wavered–she was unfazed.
“So, you’re really set on taking Felix from me today?” Her tone was calm, almost detached, as she shifted into a defensive stance. “Fine. Then let’s
see what you’ve got.”
The soldiers didn’t speak. They stood silently, eyes locked on Renee, waiting for Eric’s command.
Their expressions were stern, authoritative, but as the seconds passed, they began to falter. The aura around Renee was palpable, a quiet intensity that made them hesitate, as if they could feel the invisible weight of her resolve bearing down on them.
“Renee! Are you really going to fight them all here?” Eric challenged, his voice sharp with disbelief.
Renee’s lips curled into a disdainful smile. “What else would I do? Will you just let me take Felix without a fight?”
“You’re stubborn! Reckless!” Eric spat, his anger rising. “Take action!”
One of the soldiers hesitated, stepping forward, perhaps unsure about engaging a woman.
But then, Renee’s hand shot out, and with a swift movement, she flipped him to the floor effortlessly.
It happened so quickly that the others barely had time to blink before the soldier’s groan reached their ears. In the next instant, the towering man— easily over six feet–lay curled up on the floor, silently gritting his teeth as he endured the pain.
The remaining soldiers exchanged tense glances, their eyes silently warning each other to be cautious with Renee.
Renee watched them, her expression dripping with mockery. “Stop wasting time,” she said, her tone dripping with scorn. “Come at me all at once. I’ve got better things to do later.”
Her dismissive attitude only fueled the soldiers‘ pride. These were trained men, after all. They weren’t about to let her get the better of them.
With a quick exchange of nods, they charged at her in unison, fists raised, full of aggression.
A minute later, the living room was littered with their bodies. They lay sprawled on the floor, their pride wounded more than their bodies. They barely made a sound, only sharp gasps escaping as they silently endured the pain, too embarrassed to groan.
