Chapter 245 One Of Your Secret Admirers
When Renee returned to the ward, she noticed Ivory was nowhere to be found. William was the only one left, focused on his work.
Upon her return, William asked, “Why did it take you so long?”
Renee flashed a casual smile and replied, “I had to deal with one of your
secret admirers.”
William furrowed his brow, puzzled. “What admirers?”
Instead of answering, Renee stretched out on the bed, letting out a lazy sigh. She wondered how much longer she’d be stuck here. After all, her injuries were barely more than scratches. But still, William seemed determined to keep her in the hospital with him.
Renee had every reason to believe that William was keeping her around for
his own amusement.
“Will you tell me what happened?” he asked, his voice tinged with
confusion.
Renee shrugged casually. “That nurse. She found two amateurs to block me
at the stairs.”
She spoke so lightly, as if it was nothing worth worrying about.
But to William, it sounded more serious than she let on. He threw the documents in his hand aside, his cold gaze locking onto her. “Are you hurt anywhere? Come here; let me see.”
Renee didn’t budge. Too lazy to move, she waved him off. “There aren’t many who can hurt me. You, Mr. Chadwick, maybe. But those two? I could
take them out with one hand.
Despite her words, William couldn’t shake his worry. He examined her carefully, and when he saw no visible injuries, he finally relaxed.
But then his mind caught on to something–the nurse Renee had mentioned. His expression darkened as he asked, “Which nurse?”
Renee flashed him a sly smile, turned to face him, and raised an eyebrow with playful mischief. “Your sweetest Ivory. She wanted to be with you so badly, she flirted with her two admirers and got them to teach me a lesson!”
“And what happened then?” William’s gaze turned cold, his voice clipped.
Renee’s smirk grew as she leaned back with pride. “Then? Then those two switched sides the moment they saw me. I didn’t even have to try, they spilled everything without me lifting a finger!”
William’s instincts told him something was off. He narrowed his eyes. “How did they switch sides?”
Renee shrugged nonchalantly, changing the subject with a mischievous grin. “Why do you have so many admirers anyways?”
As they continued their back–and–forth, Renee’s phone rang.
It was Juliet, Felix’s nanny.
Renee glanced at the screen before answering. Juliet only called when it was urgent—she knew Renee was usually busy, and she knew better than to bother her employer unless something serious was happening.
Renee answered, her tone already guarded.
Before she could say anything, Juliet’s panicked voice burst through the line.
“Ms. Carter! A middle–aged couple claiming to be Felix’s grandparents showed up and took him! They even brought bodyguards. I couldn’t stop them!”

Renee’s expression stiffened at the news. She immediately pieced it together–she knew exactly who they were.
After hanging up, she turned to William, her gaze as cold as ice.
William, looking completely bewildered, couldn’t understand what was happening.
“What happened? Who was on the phone?”
“The nanny,” Renee replied, her voice sharp.
When she mentioned Felix’s nanny, William tensed up immediately. He set his document aside and leaned forward, his concern obvious. “What happened? Is something wrong with Felix?”
Renee’s expression remained frosty, her tone cutting. “Did you have your parents take Felix away? William, I’ve told you–Felix is my son, and mine alone. If you keep this up, don’t say I didn’t warn you. I’ll take him somewhere the Mitchell family will never find him!”
