Chapter 236 My Wife Would Get Jealous
“Why are you nervous?” William’s voice was sharp, cutting through the
silence.
Ivory immediately picked up on the irritation in his tone, and it only made her more anxious. She stammered, trying to explain, “Actually, we’ve met before–six years ago…”
William’s brow furrowed in confusion.
Worried he might dismiss her, Ivory quickly added, “Back in the village where I grew up… it was you and your team who saved me…”
At that, something seemed to click in William’s mind.
Six years ago, a group of criminals had taken a number of young girls hostage in a small village. By now, those girls would be around Ivory’s age.
“Oh… so you’re one of those girls.”
Ivory’s heart skipped a beat at William’s words. She couldn’t believe he remembered her. Her shyness melted away as she smiled brightly. “You remember me?! That’s amazing! I’ve been trying to find you for years, but I never even knew your name. It’s so incredible to see you again!”
In sharp contrast to her excitement, William remained calm, his expression unreadable. “I was just doing my job,” he said, his voice flat. “It was nothing.”
Ivory hesitated, her enthusiasm fading a little. “But…”
William cut her off, his tone still measured. “Just like now, as a nurse, you take care of me. You’re helping me. But it’s also your job.”
Ivory nodded, her voice soft. “Right…”
William’s tone shifted to something more formal. “Exactly. No need to linger on it. Now, could you change the dressing for me?”
It was clear he wasn’t interested in small talk, and Ivory picked up on it immediately. Yet, she wasn’t ready to back down.
If she hadn’t recognized William as the one who had saved her six years ago, his cold demeanor might have pushed her away. But now, everything had changed. William’s looks and his family background were exactly what Ivory had always imagined in an ideal partner.
And the fact that he had saved her all those years ago? That sealed the
deal.
She knew she had to seize this chance, no matter what.
After carefully changing the dressing and tidying up her tools, Ivory watched as William buttoned his hospital gown. Her heart raced, but she took a deep breath and gathered the courage to ask, “Could I have your
number?”
William paused. A flicker of displeasure clouded his usually composed expression. His eyes met hers for a brief moment before shifting toward
the door.
Ivory followed his gaze, her heart sinking when she saw a strikingly beautiful woman standing there. Even without makeup, she was so captivating that it was impossible not to notice her.
The woman leaned casually against the doorframe, watching them with quiet amusement, as if savoring the scene.
She was breathtakingly beautiful…
Ivory couldn’t help but feel a pang of insecurity.
Then, William’s voice broke the silence. “Sorry, my wife would get jealous.
She’s a bit… possessive.”
Renee froze.
A jealous wife? He meant her?
Ivory’s eyes also widened in shock.
This stunning woman was William’s… wife?!
“Where did you go?” William asked, his voice now soft and warm, a sharp
contrast to his earlier coldness.
His gaze softened as he looked at Renee.
Feeling the tension, Ivory quickly gathered her things, eager to leave.
As the nurse hurried out, Renee couldn’t help but chuckle, watching her retreating figure. She strolled into the room, a playful glint in her eye as
she teased William.
“Look, you scared the poor girl. What’s the harm in leaving her your contact? I wouldn’t mind,” Renee teased.
As she stepped closer to his bed, William took her hand and pulled her into
his embrace.
“But I like it when you get jealous on my behalf,” he murmured, a small smile tugging at his lips.
