Chapter 234 Not Ready For
This
“Why did you go through with this, Jarrod? No matter what, he’s still our uncle! Do you really have to be so cruel?” Marvin’s voice crackled with panic.
He had always stayed out of their conflicts. Regardless of how intense the disputes between Jarrod and Shaun were, he had remained impartial and never chose sides or passed judgment.
But this time was different.
Following Shaun’s arrest, Marvin made countless efforts to see him, but he never succeeded. It seemed the Doyle family’s influence had somehow just disappeared.
It was a desperate time. Marvin sought assistance far and wide, and when he finally turned to Jarrod for help, not only did Jarrod refuse, but Marvin also learned that Jarrod had been secretly working against Shaun, apparently wishing for his doom.
Upon discovering this, Marvin’s rage boiled over.
“Marvin, you stay out of this. Shaun isn’t getting out,” Jarrod stated coldly.
“You’ve gone too far!” Marvin stared at Jarrod with a mix of anger and sorrow. “You’re unbelievably cold and vicious! I’m very disappointed in you! I don’t know how you became this way! You’re really terrifying.”
As Marvin’s accusations intensified, Jarrod’s face became even darker, and in a moment of rage, he knocked everything off the coffee table.
“Terrifying? I’ve clawed my way to this position, and for what? To end up
disappointing and terrifying you? Just get the fuck out! Now!”
This was the first time Marvin had seen such intense anger from his brother, and it scared him enough to make him leave quickly.
Just then, Sylvia walked in.
She stopped for a moment upon seeing the mess in the office, and then silently started to clean up.
Jarrod, catching his breath, said, “Leave it. I’ll get someone to clean it up
later.”
Sylvia kept on with her cleaning. “Don’t let an outsider see you like this. I’ll take care of it.”
Her words somehow immediately helped to ease Jarrod’s rage. “You’re saying you’re not an outsider?”
Sylvia paused briefly. Her face flushed as she went back to cleaning.
Suddenly, a large hand pulled her up. Before Sylvia could react, Jarrod had her against the desk, locking eyes with her intently.
“I’m going to kiss you now,” Jarrod declared.
It wasn’t a request but a statement, as he quickly pressed his lips to hers.

The kiss felt like an intense assault. Jarrod’s eyes blazed wildly as he deeply explored her mouth with his tongue.
Caught off guard, Sylvia quickly found herself gasping for air. She turned her head to breathe, but her slight resistance only intensified Jarrod’s desire for control. He held her chin and drew her back into a deeper, more
consuming kiss.
The moment stretched and their chemistry was undeniable, even though it
was their first kiss.
It was only when Sylvia felt something hard pressed against her stomach
that she came to her senses and pushed Jarrod away forcefully. “I… I’m not ready for this.”
Jarrod still looked heated. He glanced at Sylvia and then abruptly turned. “Sorry, I need to wash my face and cool down,” he muttered.
