Chapter 233 Rumors
The news of Shaun’s arrest spread like wildfire. Within hours, it was everywhere.
Accusations piled on, painting him as a ruthless businessman who would stop at nothing to get ahead.
Then, the parents of the girl who died on his cruise party stepped forward. In tearful videos, they pointed their fingers directly at Shaun, claiming he was responsible for their daughter’s death.
“Our daughter was thrown overboard! She drowned in that cold, unforgiving sea! Shaun did this! He’s a monster!” The couple’s voices cracked with anguish. “Before she died, she endured unimaginable pain. Our sweet girl! When they pulled her from the water, her hands were still bound. Everyone on that boat saw it! Our poor baby!”
They posted the same heartbreaking message over and over, desperate for
attention.
The story spread like wildfire online. But the people who had been there that day were all rich and powerful. None of them stepped forward or even just bothered to speak up.
Soon enough, the media picked up the story.
Some tried to stay neutral, but the weight of public opinion quickly swayed them. Meanwhile, conspiracy theorists dug deeper, spinning their own
versions of the truth.
When the couple began live streaming, the questions came fast and furious. “Why wait until now? Did you take hush money to stay silent?”
“Now that Shaun’s in trouble, you’ve found your voice? What about all that
money you took? You’re just as bad–choosing cash over your daughter!”
The live stream quickly drew a barrage of haters, leaving the couple- streaming for the first time–feeling lost and overwhelmed.
The mother broke down, her tears a mix of genuine grief and something more calculated.
“We swear we’re telling the truth! She was our daughter! Just twenty years old! She didn’t deserve this! She was murdered!” She struggled to control her sobs, her words desperate as she spoke into the camera.
Renee shut off her phone with a cold swipe. These people were still using their daughter’s death to tug at heartstrings and profit from their pain.
It was both heartbreaking and shameful.
“Lock them up, so they can get a grip,” Renee said coldly.
If the girl were still alive, this would destroy her.
Renee hadn’t expected Marvin to get involved in the online frenzy, either.
And it was William who showed her the video.
In the footage, Marvin–who had been absent for days–looked like a completely different person. The carefree young man, once lost in a world of pleasures, was gone. Instead, he appeared more grown–up, his expression serious, eyes bloodshot, and the weariness of someone who hadn’t slept in days evident.
“I’m Marvin Doyle, Shaun Doyle’s nephew. Regarding Miss Alicia Fairclough’s death, I want to clarify that when her body was pulled from the sea, her hands were indeed tied. But that doesn’t mean my uncle is guilty! I trust the police will investigate thoroughly. Until then, please stop spreading false information or causing panic. If you don’t, the Doyle family will take action.”
The mention of the Doyle family had some effect—at least it managed to
slow the flood of rumors online.
