Chapter 182 Her Identity Is Exposed
“Take this girl outside to Denton,” William said, his voice firm but edged with urgency.
“We need a gun, and we need to split up,” Renee countered, her tone resolute.
William hesitated for a fraction of a second, concern flickering in his eyes. But there was no time for debate. With a short nod, he simply said, “Be careful.”
Renee didn’t waste she hurried back the way they came, while William pressed on, disappearing deeper into the chaos.
ther moment. Scooping the little girl into her arms,
The pirates were playing by their own twisted rulebook, and strangely enough, the deck was eerily calm. Renee moved swiftly, spotting Denton near the railing. Without a word, she handed over the little girl to him before turning to leave when his voice stopped her. “Renee!”
She glanced back at him without saying anything.
“Watch yourself,”
on said.
Renee blinked, momentarily stunned–Denton wasn’t the type to show concern, least of all for her.
Denton had never been fond of her, not since the days when she had relentlessly pursued William. He had always met her presence with a cold shoulder or a scowl.
Then, in a voice quieter than before, Denton added, “William would be
devastated if anything happened to you.”
Renee felt the weight of his words settle over her. A moment stretched between them, heavy with unspoken thoughts. Then, with a brief nod, she turned on her heel and disappeared into the cabin.
The first–floor hall was crowded with people, but Renee pushed past them, descending the stairs with purpose. The deeper she went, the fiercer the gunfire grew, echoing through the ship like a thunderstorm. It was clear now–William had made his move, and the battle was on.
By the time she reached the second floor, she nearly collided with a masked man emerging from the stairwell. They came face–to–face, both startled by the sudden encounter.
The moment the man saw Renee–a woman, and a striking one at that— his guard slipped. With a smirk, he aimed his gun at her, underestimating her entirely. “You,” he said, motioning with the barrel. “Come here.”
Renee obeyed, her expression neutral, steps measured. She needed to gauge if he had backup before she made her move.
“Hands up. On your knees,” the man ordered.
Renee raised her hands slowly, lowering herself into a crouch. Then, like a coiled spring, she struck–her hand flashing toward his weapon.
The man was quick on his feet, sidestepping her strike with ease. Upon her failed initial attempt, he grew more wary. But Renee didn’t hesitate for a second–she followed up with a powerful punch, her fist flying toward him without mercy.
They traded blows for a few tense moments until Renee saw her opening. With a swift move, she seized his wrist, twisting it down with enough force to hear a sickening crack. Before the man could react, Renee drove her knee into his fingers, forcing him to let go of the gun.
He had underestimated Renee, assuming she was no more than a woman who couldn’t hold her own. But as pain shot through him, he let out a
sharp cry, his grip faltering. The gun slipped from his hand, soaring through the air. Without missing a beat, Renee snatched it mid–flight.
Before the man could even process the turn of events, Renee was already a step ahead. With one smooth motion, she pulled the trigger, sending a bullet straight through the man. He collapsed instantly, his life snuffed out in an instant.
The sharp crack of the gunshot rang through the air, and the man crumpled to the floor. It was only then that Renee noticed William, standing just behind the man, his gaze locked onto her in stunned silence.
She took a step forward, halting right in front of him.
“You…” William began, his voice trailing off.
“I’ve joined the Night Wolf Special Forces. This time, I’m back in Tofral on a mission.” Before he could finish, Renee cut him off.
William blinked, momentarily stunned, but it didn’t last long. He gave a slow nod and simply said, “Alright.”
There was a brief pause before William added, “There are eleven people in the hall. Most of the guests are being held at gunpoint. These aren’t your average pirates. Their gear is top–of–the–line, and they know what they’re doing. They’re not just here for money–whatever they’re after, it’s something more.”
Renee’s brows furrowed, the weight of his words sinking in.
The two of them made their way downstairs, their footsteps quiet against the stillness.
Suddenly, Renee stopped, a thought sparking in her mind. She turned to William, her voice tinged with concern. “Where’s Shaun? Have you seen him?”
“No, I haven’t. Why, you think he’s up to something?” William asked, his eyes narrowing in suspicion.
Renee hesitated, chewing on her thoughts before answering, “I have a gut
feeling they might be after him. But I’m still piecing it together.”
William’s sharp gaze softened slightly as he raised an eyebrow. “So, you came to this party to dig into him?”
Renee trusted William like few others–after all, he was ex–special forces, with a spotless record–so she didn’t hold back.
“Yeah,” she admitted.
Just as she finished speaking, a chorus of footsteps echoed through the hall. The two of them swiftly took cover, peeking out to see Shaun leading a group of people toward their direction.
