Chapter 161 We’re Evaluating Things
Denton received an urgent call from William just when he was about to meet a client.
“Get to my office now,” William’s voice commanded, cold and direct.
Denton hesitated. “Can it wait? I’m about to have dinner with a client.”
William’s tone remained unwavering. “No, now.”
Since William had spoken, Denton knew there was no time to waste. He understood all too well how volatile William’s temper could be when pushed too far.
He had no choice but to offer his apologies to the client and rush over to Infinity Group.
The receptionist looked up, surprised to see him, and her face lit up with
a warm smile.
“Mr. Goodwin, it’s been so long!” she exclaimed.
“Indeed, it has been, Mina. You look even more beautiful than I remember,
and I see you’ve changed your hair color,” Denton said with a friendly smile.
The receptionist didn’t respond with enthusiasm. Instead, she crossed her arms and pouted. “Mr. Goodwin, my name is Anya, not Mina.”
“Oh, really? I could have sworn you told me your name was Mina last time,” he replied, slightly confused.
Before stepping into William’s office, Denton made sure to knock. Just as his knuckles met the door, a soft tap on his shoulder interrupted him from
behind.
He turned around, momentarily speechless at the sight of the stunning woman standing there.
“Mr. Goodwin, correct? I’m Dolores Perez, Mr. Mitchell’s new secretary. Mr. Mitchell mentioned that you’re free to go right in.”
“Dolores, what a beautiful name! You look so youthful. Did you just graduate from college?” Denton asked, his curiosity piqued.
“Yes, that’s right,” she replied with a shy smile.
“Passing the internship evaluation straight out of college? Impressive! I’ve heard William’s quite particular about his secretaries. You must be sharp. Hey, how about we switch numbers? You can reach out if there’s anything you don’t understand–anything at all!” Denton asked, pulling out his phone. But before Dolores could say anything, the office door swung open.
William fixed Denton with a piercing glare.
“Get in here!” William barked, turning on his heel and walking into the
office.
Dolores quickly lowered her gaze, intimidated.
Denton gave her shoulder a gentle reassuring pat and whispered, “Don’t worry. You’ll get used to William’s mood swings. I’ll be inside. We’ll talk
later.”
Once inside the office, Denton barely had time to say a word before William tossed a file folder toward him. “Do another paternity test for me.”
Denton was taken aback, catching the folder. “Who’s it for this time?” he asked, eager to understand the situation.
“For me…”
Denton’s eyes shot wide with disbelief, initially thinking that William had once again found himself in some romantic mishap. But William’s voice

was measured as he continued, “And Felix.”
Denton’s confusion deepened.
“You’ve already done one, right? Are you still not convinced?”
“Felix resembles me too much,” William explained, a hint of frustration in
his tone.
Denton couldn’t argue with that.
Felix was a mirror image of William’s younger self.
“You know, Felix is also allergic to pollen,” William said.
“Is that a genetic trait?”
“That’s exactly why I need you to double–check it.”
Running another test wasn’t impossible, but Denton couldn’t shake the concern about William’s state of mind. Generally, tests were accurate unless the samples were compromised.
“Alright.”
Denton tucked the folder under his arm, but then paused, struck by a sudden thought. “Have you and Renee… gotten back together?”
“Not yet, but… we’re evaluating things.”
“You? Evaluated by Renee? Oh, William, you’ve brought this on yourself!” Denton couldn’t contain his laughter.
William stared at him, speechless.
“I told you to treat her better back then, remember? But look what happened. She left. And when she came back, it wasn’t… Well, never mind. Who would’ve thought the woman who was once practically glued to your side, loving you with all her heart, would now be the one holding the power to evaluate you?”

“Can you shut up? Now get out and do your job.”
Denton sidled up to William’s desk with an exaggerated, sly grin.
“Actually, there is one more thing…”
“What?”
“About your new secretary… Is it possible for me to charm her?”
