Chapter 122 Prepare For The Wedding
The surveillance footage was nothing short of shocking. Renee’s relentless kicking of several doors left the entire monitor room in stunned silence. When she reached Glenn’s room, all eyes were fixed on the screen. As the door swung open, she stormed in without hesitation. Moments later, she emerged, carrying Rosa.
The camera had caught the exact moment Glenn tried to block her at the door, causing his bath towel to slip off, all thanks to Renee’s forceful actions.
Then Renee left, and not long after, a man in a baseball cap and mask entered Glenn’s room. The footage revealed him helping a visibly drunk Glenn out of the room.
The question lingered in the room–who was this mysterious man who had taken Glenn away? But William’s mind was elsewhere. Could this man possibly be Felix’s biological father?
It was clear to him that Renee had called this man to clean up the mess. So, were they close?
“Find out where this man took Glenn,” William ordered, his voice steady as he turned to leave.
As he stepped out of the hotel, his expression darkened. Renee’s return had unsettled him. She had changed so much, becoming more enigmatic in every possible way. There were so many secrets about her that he couldn’t decipher, and it felt like she was slipping away from him—becoming as intangible as a dandelion seed, ready to be carried away by the slightest breeze, vanishing from his life altogether.
He couldn’t allow that to happen. He had to act fast, to pull her back before she drifted too far away.
His car sped toward Rose Villa, and as if on cue, his phone rang. It was Sylvia.
He didn’t answer.
But Sylvia wasn’t one to back down, and the phone rang again.
Annoyed, William finally picked up.
“What?” His voice was sharp, dripping with irritation.
Sylvia paused for a moment, swallowing her frustration before responding. “William, please come back. Your father insists on taking your mother to turn herself in, and I can’t stop him. Please, you have to come back.”
In the background, Eric’s angry voice and Esme’s sobbing could be heard, the sounds gnawing at William’s resolve.
His face hardened as the realization hit him–Eric had uncovered the truth, after all. He now knew Esme had hit Felix and fled.
“I’m coming back now,” William said, his tone colder than ever.
“Okay, William. Please hurry,” Sylvia replied, her voice laced with concern.
William rushed back to the Mitchell family estate. As soon as he stepped inside, he was met with the sound of Eric’s furious voice. “You didn’t dare? I beg to differ. You’ve got the audacity for a hit–and–run. If you’re bold enough to do that, you’re certainly bold enough to do anything!”
“I didn’t mean to! It was an accident, really!” Esme sobbed, her voice trembling.
“It doesn’t matter! You made a mistake, and that’s the truth. Now you’re
going to turn yourself in!”
Eric’s voice was unyielding, a man determined to make sure there were
consequences. Recently, he’d faced a wave of accusations, and the higher- ups were already displeased with him. If Esme’s actions led to his downfall, all his years of hard work would be in vain.
“Dad, calm down,” William interjected, stepping forward. “We can talk this through. Getting angry won’t help.”
“William… Your father is so heartless. He wants me locked up. Please, help me!” Esme cried out, her voice filled with desperation.
“No one can help you!” Eric snapped, his anger boiling over.
William ran a hand through his hair, his frustration mounting. “Dad, let me handle this, alright?”
Eric shot him a sharp look, scoffing. “If you could’ve handled it, would we still be standing here today? It ends now, William. You and Esme are going to face this, and I’ll make sure of it!”
He pointed at Esme, his voice unwavering. “If you won’t turn yourself in, then you’ll stay here. You’re not going anywhere. Not until this is resolved!”
As he turned on William with a sudden shift, Eric’s tone turned coldly authoritative. “And you, I’ve arranged for you to meet Laurie from the Chadwick family. Go see her, and start preparing for the wedding. No more delays.”
