Chapter 119 Is She Some Kind Of Ninja
“Where the hell are we?” Marvin stretched his neck to peer out the window, eyes narrowing in confusion as Renee drove into an upscale villa compound. His gaze flicked to her. “Wait… is this your place?”
Why was she bringing him here?
Renee didn’t answer right away. Instead, she casually shrugged off her blazer.
Marvin froze. What was she doing? Stripping down in front of him? He wasn’t dense enough to think she had any interest in him, but still—this was unexpected.
Thankfully, that was as far as she went. She neatly tucked her blouse into her pants and, in one swift motion, gathered her loose hair into a high ponytail.
In under a minute, she transformed–going from a poised businesswoman to someone who looked ready to infiltrate a high–security facility.
“It’s William’s place, not mine” she finally said.
Marvin blinked, completely missing the fact that she was answering his earlier question. By the time it clicked, she had already stepped out of the car, shutting the door behind her.
“Stay put,” she ordered.
Seeing the suspicion in his eyes, she added with a smirk, “Try to run off, and you’ll regret it.”
Marvin leaned out the window, about to yell after her, but his words
caught in his throat as he witnessed something insane. Instead of using the front gate, Renee grabbed hold of the villa’s outer wall and scaled it.
Marvin slapped a hand over his mouth to stop himself from shouting. Was she seriously breaking in? The wall was smooth, with no footholds in sight, yet she moved as if she had done this a hundred times before.
“Holy-” He exhaled, wide–eyed. “Is she some kind of ninja?”
Her speed was unreal. No ordinary person could climb like that.
Muttering under his breath, he slumped back in his seat. “Damn. Maybe getting my ass kicked by her back then wasn’t so humiliating after all…”
For years, Marvin had held onto the grudge of being beaten by Renee. Now? He was starting to think of it as an honor.
His admiration didn’t last long, though. Scanning the dark, empty property, a chill ran down his spine.
“For such a massive place, there’s not a single servant?” His voice was barely above a whisper. “No lights on, either. This is way too creepy.”
Just then, a faint beam of light flickered in his rearview mirror. His pulse spiked. Someone was coming. Instinctively, he ducked down, his heart thudding. So much for thinking this place was deserted.
A security guard in uniform approached Marvin’s car, his flashlight slicing through the darkness. The beam swept across the windshield before the man leaned in, pressing his face against the window. Marvin held his breath. Thank God for privacy tint. He could see out just fine, but from the outside, it was pitch black. Still, that didn’t make the sight of a stranger’s face plastered against his window any less unnerving. With the harsh glow of the flashlight distorting the man’s features, it looked downright horror- movie worthy.
Marvin’s palms grew clammy. His heart pounded against his ribs. “Hurry up, Renee!” he thought to himself. Then again, if she came back too soon and ran straight into the guy, they’d both be screwed.
The guard stepped back slightly, frowning. “Strange. This isn’t Mr. Mitchell’s vehicle…” he muttered to himself. He lingered for a moment before turning toward the villa.
The guard pressed the doorbell several times, waiting for any sign of movement. Nothing. After a few beats, he finally gave up and continued his patrol.
Marvin exhaled shakily, feeling like he had just dodged a bullet. Then, he saw Renee come soaring down from the second floor of the villa. His jaw dropped.
She landed effortlessly, as if gravity didn’t apply to her. No safety cables. No ledges. Just a clean, fluid descent that defied reason.
Marvin’s throat tightened. He choked on air, coughing so hard he thought
his lungs might give out.
