Chapter 104 Get Her Room
Number For You
Engrossed in their banter, Ryland had been chatting animatedly when a buzzing topic from recent days popped into his mind, sparking his urge to stir up a little gossip.
He leaned in closer, his voice dripping with curiosity. “You claim there’s nothing left between you and your ex, yet just a few days prior, people saw you, him, and your son together at the supermarket. What’s the story there?”
Renee, midway through perfecting her eyeliner, paused and pivoted towards him, her
eyebrows arching in surprise. “Oh? And where did you hear that?”
With a sly, knowing smile stretching across his face, Ryland tapped his phone screen,
bringing up a candid photo. “It’s all over the Internet. There’s a snapshot of you three looking like the quintessential family—a charming scene really. You know, the online crowd can’t stop raving about how ideal you all look together.”
Renee gave a short, amused snort, dismissing the notion with a wave of her hand. “Ideal? Please, they don’t know nothing.”
Just as Renee turned back to her vanity, adding the finishing touches to her makeup,, Ryland couldn’t help but marvel at her efficiency. His eyes then widened in genuine surprise. “Wait, you’re ready to go–just like that?”
Without missing a beat, Renee gave her reflection a satisfied nod before glancing down at her attire, puzzled by his reaction. “Yes, what’s wrong? Doesn’t it look good?”
Ryland gestured vaguely towards her outfit with a mix of bewilderment and amusement. “You’re wearing that to the event tonight?”
Renee was dressed in a striking black and white suit that, despite its stylish cut and the delicate lace bowtie adorning the shirt collar–which complemented her chic, elegant aura–still seemed underdressed for the opulence of Infinity Group’s annual gala.
“Every woman here dresses as if they’re gracing the royal family, vying to be the night’s enchantress. Your ensemble, though chic, feels a bit too laid–back,” Ryland remarked with a concerned furrow in his brow.
Yet Renee remained undisturbed by his assessment. Rising gracefully from her seat, she twirled elegantly, the suit hugging her contours as she presented herself to Ryland with a confident smile. “Don’t I look good?” She pressed, her voice tinged with playful defiance.
Ryland paused, his eyes acknowledging her undeniable allure. “You certainly look stunning, but… your outfit might be perceived as too informal. It could give the impression you’re not honoring the gala’s significance,” he conceded, his tone a mixture of admiration and caution.
“That’s precisely the point. I’m not here to dazzle the crowd,” Renee retorted with a wry smile, her intentions clear.
Her presence at the gala was not to make a splash but to discreetly uncover secrets.
“Let’s get going.” With a swift motion, she shot up from her seat, swept her coat off the chair, and strode out the door.
Ryland ceased his advice and trailed behind Renee. It was undeniable; she looked absolutely mesmerizing in her suit–tailored to perfection, she exuded an aura that rivaled silver screen icons. He had met countless beauties, yet few possessed the effortless elegance to carry a suit like Renee did.
The moment they stepped out of the car, they were greeted by an unexpected spectacle at the hotel entrance.
The chaos was far beyond what any live stream could capture. A throng of influencers mingling with curious onlookers had converged, compelling the hotel to deploy a brigade of eight security guards to establish order and carve a pathway through the red carpet for arriving guests.
Ryland, slightly overwhelmed, murmured under his breath, “Gee… I’m getting uneasy. What’s with this crowd?”
“Just relax,” Renee replied, her smile unwavering as she strutted ahead with poise.
Undaunted by the clamor, she navigated the event with seasoned grace.
Ryland, not wanting to lag behind, hastened his steps to match hers.
As they made their way down the red carpet, the swarm of cameras swiveled towards Renee. The crowd erupted in gasps and admiration at her stunning appearance, their phones rising like a sea of lights to capture her image.
“Is she a celebrity? She looks divine!”
“Her stature, those striking features–oh, why can’t I look like her?”
“She’s absolutely stunning.”
The comments filled the air, loud and clear, and Renee caught every word. Yet, she remained composed, her gaze fixed ahead. That composure was briefly tested when she overheard an overly enthusiastic livestreamer comment, “Folks, check out the figure on this beauty! Send me those virtual gifts, and I’ll get her contact info for you.”
As Rence closed in on him, her expression chilled. The man, buoyed by incoming gifts, audaciously announced, “Keep those gifts coming, and I’ll even get her room number for you.”
