The Wrong Sister 6

Chapter 6

It wasn’t until the early hours of the next morning that Aurora finally regained enough strength to move.

Alone, she dragged herself to the hospital to treat her injuries.

The doctor was visibly startled when he saw the deep lashes on her back and arms. It took him three full hours to clean

and dress the wounds.

She was drenched in cold sweat the entire time, clenching her jaw so tightly that several of her fingernails cracked against

her palms. But she endured it.

After two days of rest in the hospital, the wounds began to scab over.

During that time, Scarlet sent her a constant stream of taunting messages.

“Mom and Dad agreed to turn your bedroom into a nursery. Once Sterling and I have our baby, it’ll be perfect. When are

you moving all your junk out?”

“Sterling took me dress shopping today. I couldn’t decide which gown I liked best, so he just bought them all! I tried on so many shoes that my feet were sore-he was so worried he sat down and massaged my legs right there.”

In the photo, Sterling gazed at Scarlet with such tenderness-Aurora felt nothing but numbness.

No anger. No heartbreak. Just numbness.

She didn’t reply to a single message.

Once her body had healed enough, she went home and began packing.

She only kept a few essential documents and personal items. Everything else, she threw out. Every last piece of it.

As she cleared her room, the house steward hesitated for a moment before approaching carefully.

“Miss Aurora, Miss Scarlet said you could move your things into the basement. It doesn’t get much light, but there’s plenty

of space. There’s really no need to throw everything away.”

Aurora glanced around at the empty walls.

“No need,” she said calmly. “I won’t be needing any of this. I’m leaving for good.”

The steward paused, surprised. “You’re not coming back?”

Before he could finish his thought, the front door creaked open.

Sterling walked in.

“Who’s not coming back?” he asked, eyes sweeping the room.

Before the steward could answer, Scarlet emerged from the bedroom in a silk robe, pouting.

“You’re early! I haven’t even finished my makeup.”

Sterling didn’t even look at Aurora. He walked straight to Scarlet, gently tapping her nose.

“No rush. Take your time. I’ll wait.”

“You know I can never get my brows even,” she said playfully. “You’ve got steady hands. Do them for me?”

The two of them disappeared into the bedroom, giggling.

The door closed behind them.

Aurora turned away and silently zipped up her suitcase.

The rest of the day passed like a slow-motion montage.

Sterling never left Scarlet’s side.

He cooked breakfast for her himself, cradled her in his arms, and fed her bite by bite.

He sat through a movie she picked, explaining the hidden Easter eggs and plot twists just to make her laugh.

He kissed her on the balcony while she left smudges of lipstick on his collar, and he wore those marks like medals-his gaze soft, his smile gentle.

The housemaids, unable to help themselves, gossiped quietly in corners.

“They’re so in love… even though they’re not officially married yet, they’re already like newlyweds. You can’t separate them

for a second.”

“Miss Scarlet’s been spoiled since she was little, and now she’s marrying a man who absolutely dotes on her. She’s going

to be insufferable-lucky girl.”

“Sigh. Poor Miss Aurora. She was always overlooked growing up. And when she finally fell for someone… it had to be her

sister’s fiancé. What are the odds? Born under an unlucky star, that one.”

Behind the door, Aurora heard every word.

She lowered her eyes.

There was a time when she had asked the heavens over and over-Why me?

Why was she born into this life? Why was she always the one left behind?

But dying once had taught her a simple truth:

If something needed to be fought for… then it was never truly hers to begin with.

Family. Love.

None of it was worth clinging to anymore.

And so, she chose not to linger.

Not to beg.

Not to bleed any longer.

She was going to leave.

And this time, she wouldn’t look back.
