After saying that, I didn’t wait for his response and hung up, tossing it aside as a surge of anger welled up inside me.
Oliver seemed to sense my emotions and jumped off the bed, rubbing ogilnat my leg and meowing as if to comfort me.
I squatted down, picked up Oliver, and gently stroked his back. “Olive, you’re the best. You never make me angry.”

After she left, I wasn’t sleepy anymore. Quinn had sent me a message with some areas that needed revision.

I waved my hand. “I was just returning what’s yours.”
Brian smiled. He looked quite handsome when he smiled, less cold and more gentle.
