Chapter 19
RUBY DOUGLAS
King Gavin Ackerman was all my eyes were fixated on as the Parks defenders trained in the Pack treg, grond fox on
I stood in the shade watching Gavin’s glistening body and plant twice walk through the array of wiform men in the scorching sun. I wished with everything in me Gavin was mine. Maybe a second chance mate or over, verything that works leave me the privilege of running my fingers along his tone muscles, and to wipe off the beads of perigration off hires myself.
“We take ten!” Norman Blu, the instructor announced with a loud voice then the small crowd dangered towards the war dispensary unit,
With more than a thousand soldiers present, Denise wore khaki shorts that revealed both beer cheeks, and a Fendi sports bra that sent the lustful gazes of these men her way every time the gaited past them
How could anyone be this self–confident? I blushed to death from the mere those of weating, such doteridon thousands of ogling men. It was where we differed, she was beautiful, confident, and strong, I was the complete oppose f
Denise Coleman,
The beautiful blonde reached Gavin in no time, a few inches away from where I stood, grabbed his water bottle from his large palm, and drank from it, emptying the rest on her sunkissed body.
More than half of the men in the training ground ogled her way. I couldn’t blame them, she looked perfect in ways I could never be.
Gavin’s gaze snagged mine.
My heart skipped, no, it somersaulted. He averted his gaze to the flirty girl before him. If only he could keep looking my
way.
I caught Nathan coming my way from my peripherals. He gesticulated and I followed him towards the far corner where a few men rested and chatted as they drank water and supplements.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” Nathan’s question was accompanied by his hand on my windpipe and jeers from the soldiers I noted to be Syzygy warriors.
“I came to watch…
His grip on my neck tightened, cutting off what I was about to say. His claws dug into the supple of my neck. It hurt terribly.
“You’re a runt, you have no place here! The soldiers can do without the energy of a runt messing with their strengths!”
The men made mocking noises and perverted remarks about my body and the sweatwear I wore.
“I don’t want you to ever come here again!” He struck me in the face and vigorously shoved me towards the exit, “Leave!”
I didn’t understand why Nathan hated me this much. He’d rejected me and settled with a beautiful Luna, why did it bother him to have me around?
The need to cry sent goosebumps prickling my skin, I fought it with my entire being. I couldn’t sob like a weakling, not before these scornful men.
Nathan moved ahead to chat with a few soldiers while I walked towards the exit, holding my breath so the tears blurring out my vision wouldn’t flow.
“Are you alright?”

I froze in my tracks at Gavin’s tone, He was so close behind me at the exit.

Without looking his way I nodded. Summoning all the strength in me to not cry. What was I going to say if he asked? The best thing to do was to leave.
I doubled my steps and just as I was about to close the exit door his hand intercepted, whirling me around to face him.
My hair shrouded my face. Well, he brushed them away from my face, gently cupping my chin and tilting my head up, regarding me intently.
His jaws tensed visibly.
“Who the fuck did this to you?” His voice became icy, dripped with spite.
My tears flowed freely down my chin, his soft soothing fingers ran over the hurts on my face and neck.
“The goddess damn me if I don’t…”
“It’s nothing.” I tugged out my chin from his chin with a bitter smile on my tears–streaked face. Afraid of how ugly things could grow if this escalated. I didn’t want trouble, especially with a man as cunning as Nathan.
I couldn’t trust Gavin to protect me until the end. Nathan certainly would back away if confronted by the King but would brood the hate until Gavin’s troop left his territory then I’d face the music.
I couldn’t do that to myself.
“I’m fine. Please.” I sniffled.
He stepped closer to me, and just then, Denise joined the scene. Caught the memo on my face and smirked.
“This is a training ground, tears are not welcomed here.” She tucked a stray strand of her silky hair from her face, “Who let a runt in here anyway?”
“Get the fuck off!” Gavin scowled.
She shrugged and turned away, with men gawking her way.
“You know what could happen if you choose to disobey the king?”
Yes, I did. In minor cases like this, get whipped with a silver whip. I’d rather go through that than add to the pending hate in Nathan’s heart towards me.
“I’ve been flogged before. I don’t mind.” I muttered.
“Don’t be afraid, little wolf.” He coaxed, his eyes though burning with rage were softer than marshmallows as they locked on mine. His rhythmic heartbeats were reassuring.
The last time he called me little wolf, it didn’t end well.
“You don’t have to feel sorry for me. This is a normal thing in the life of an Omega.”
“Ruby Douglas, who the fuck hurt you this way?” His tone hardened again.
My eyes swept to Nathan and his men nervously looking in our direction. Gavin’s commanding tone made my wolf shiver, begging me to point in Nathan’s direction.
He followed my gaze and found Nathan. Muttered a curse and sucked in quick breaths.
“Wait in the car.” He caught hold of my arm and gently led me to his car, opened it, and made sure I was secured inside.

Drew in the front seat looked away from his phone to consider my bruised and teary face with concerned brows.

Gavin brushed soft fingers along my jaws, pulled back, and closed the car door disappearing back into the training ground.
My fingers trembled with anticipation, the dark rage in Gavin’s eyes suggested he didn’t appreciate seeing me this hurt. But he had no idea he hurt me better than anyone else.
