Chapter 25
With Chesca’s fever, having sex was off the table.
She returned to bed to rest.
From the bathroom came the sound of running water–Fabian taking a shower. The soothing sound lulled her to sleep.
In her dreams, Fabian continued his relentless pursuit.
When she woke again, it was already one in the morning.
Only a reading lamp illuminated the bedroom. Fabian reclined against the headboard, reviewing important documents. His looks were exceptional–even in a simple white robe, he outshone others by miles.
Despite herself, Chesca found her eyes lingering on him.
Her slight movement caught Fabian’s attention. He looked down at her. “Awake?”
Chesca nodded. “What time is it?”
Fabian set the documents aside and shifted to a half–reclining position, drawing her slender shoulders against him. His voice carried a hint of tenderness. “It’s already one.”
Uncomfortable with this intimacy, Chesca excused herself to the bathroom, fleeing the closeness between them.
A woman’s thoughts–how could a
Sunroom are not understand?
Fabian pretended not to notice.
Back in bed, Chesca found herself unable to fall asleep again.
Sensing her restlessness, Fabian switched on the reading lamp and reached into the

nightstand drawer.
“If you can’t sleep, I’ll read to you.”
He pulled Chesca into his arms, cradling her against his chest. Chesca’s hair fell gently over his body, and for a moment, she felt like a delicate piece of silk draped against him.
Fabian couldn’t help but gaze down at her for a moment before placing a soft kiss on her
lips.
Too weak to protest, Chesca surrendered.
Fabian’s lips brushed against her ear. “Let me read to you.”
Chesca closed her eyes, treating Fabian’s voice as nothing more than a lullaby, unrelated to
romance.
His voice was refined, like a perfectly tuned cello, drawing her in.
But soon, Chesca’s eyes flew open, glaring up at Fabian.
He was reading the love letters she had written years ago.
Her face flushed with anger. She pushed against his chest, reaching for the paper. Their bodies pressed together in a sexy way. But at that moment, Chesca was beyond caring…
Fabian simply held the paper higher, well out of her reach, leaving her breathless from the
effort.
“Isn’t a love letter still story?” he laughed softly.
Not content with that, he lowered his head until their noses touched, and slowly recited the words she had once written. Those embarrassing declarations, coming from Fabian’s lips, sent shivers through her.
“Even though it’s difficult/I still want to stay by your side.”
“I will love you forever.”

“Again and again.”
After he finished, the bedroom fell into silence, filled only with the sound of their breathing.
Both were transported back to those early days.
Neither of them could recall who kissed who first, but it didn’t matter. The chemistry was
undeniable.
After kissing for a long while, Fabian reached out and turned off the reading lamp.
Outside, a sliver of moon hung from the treetops.
出
This night was perhaps the sweetest they had ever shared, the closest they had ever come
to true love.
But later, they would both forget.
For the following week, Fabian came home punctually almost every night. He dined with Chesca and shared her bed, though most of the time it was he who wants to have sex.
He found himself surprised at his own increasing desire and even visited a therapist about
- it.
The room was dim, with thick curtains blocking out the light. Fabian sat in a corner chair, speaking with calm detachment about his marriage.
“My wife is wonderful–truly a beautiful one.
“But I don’t love her.”
“I’m certain I don’t have romantic feelings for her. I’ve only slept with her to produce a legitimate heir.”

“But I seem to be addicted to it, to this relationship. I used to be a man who didn’t crave
much…”
Chapter 25
Fabian was deeply confused.
After a thorough assessment, the therapist spoke. “Mr. Elkedonia, first you need to determine if you truly don’t love your wife. Human emotions are unpredictable–neither purely subjective nor objective.”
Fabian frowned, reluctant to explore this direction since he had loved someone in his youth.
He knew what love felt like.
When the session ended, he buttoned his suit jacket and left the office.
Outside, Taylor waited dutifully by the door. Seeing/him emerge, she ventured, “Everything alright, Mr. Elkedonia? You’ve seemed troubled lately.”
Only after they were seated in the car did Fabian lean back against the seat and exhale
softly. “Quite the opposite. I’ve just been… too comfortable, actually.”
Taylor looked utterly perplexed.
She did, however, recall something. “Elowen Graves from Astralis Group has requested a
private dinner to discuss potential collaboration between your companies. Should I
decline?”
In the past, Fabian had always declined such invitations.
He had always preferred to avoid any rumors.
But today, he suddenly realized that Elowen was similar to Chesca–a cool, elegant beauty. Dining with this executive might prove that his feelings for Chesca were merely a
temporary lapse.
After a moment’s consideration, Fabian decided, “Set it up for 8 PM tonight at the West
Restaurant at the Thayer Hotel:”
Taylor was surprised but followed his instructions.

Chapter 25
That evening, Fabian called Chesca to inform her he had a business engagement.
Coincidentally, Chesca also had plans.
A renowned female artist had arrived in the city, staying at The Thayer Hotel. Chesca had arranged to meet her to discuss a potential collaboration–ideally, a long–term partnership.
At seven that evening, Chesca dined with the artist in the hotel restaurant, successfully finalizing their arrangement.
After paying the bill, Chesca prepared to leave.
As she walked through the executive corridor, she caught sight of a familiar figure.
Her husband, Fabian–the man who claimed to have a “business engagement“-was dining
with a woman.
Chesca recognized her: Elowen Graves, Vice President of Astralis Group.
Smart, capable, and visually striking.
Tonight, Elowen wore a sleek charcoal gray sheath dress with a delicate gold bracelet
watch–the epitome of feminine allure.
Fabian, meanwhile, wore an impeccable three–piece British suit that screamed wealth and status, his every gesture imbued with aristocratic grace.
The restaurant’s atmosphere was perfect for romance.
Fabian reclined slightly in his chair, regarding the woman across from him with an air of casual indifference, yet his dark eyes conveyed a mature man’s sensuality.
Elowen played with a strand of her hair, clearly flirting.
Not wanting to interrupt Fabian’s evening, Chesca prepared to leave after a brief glance. But Fabian spotted her.
Chapter 25
He was taken aback.
Why was she here?
Tonight with Elowen, he had discussed nothing but business matters. Though Elowen had
certainly flirted with him, his mind had been elsewhere all evening.
And then he saw Chesca.
