Chapter 58
Can he really make money through resale?
“That’s exactly what the police investigation uncovered! They even have footage. During the storm, he wasn’t hiding at all. In fact, he was running around making money,” Wendy explained patiently.
Maggie froze for a moment, then sneered. “No wonder he had the nerve to point a knife at me and your dad earlier. He made a bit of money and thinks he’s grown a backbone. He thinks he’s mature enough to walk away from us!”
“Mom, Joshua might be serious this time. I don’t think he plans to come back,” Wendy sniffled.
“Not coming back? Where does he think he can go? Just because he made a few thousand dollars, he thinks he’s something special? Let me tell you, without the Fraser family, he’s nothing!” Maggie snapped, her teeth clenched. “He’ll be crawling back soon enough, and when he does, I’ll make sure he’s completely under my control!”
“Wendy, is there something else you’re not telling us?” David calmed down and looked at Wendy, his brow deeply furrowed.
Wendy met his gaze, hesitated, and eventually shook her head. “No, there’s nothing else.”
David’s frown deepened. He had a strong feeling Wendy wasn’t telling the whole truth, but he decided not to press her now.
“By the way, where is Joshua staying now? Did he rent a place?” Something occurred to Maggie.
Wendy nodded. “He’s renting a place on the outskirts of town.”
“Mr. Stuart! Mr. Stuart!” Maggie immediately called out to Leonard.
“Yes, Mrs. Fraser? What do you need?” Leonard approached quickly.
“Take Lily and a few staff to the outskirts. Contact the police and find the place Joshua is renting. I want him out on the streets!” Maggie ordered angrily.
Leonard hesitated, glancing at David, who also looked uncertain.
Leonard quickly interjected, “Mrs. Fraser, Mr. Joshua… ” He paused, then cautiously added, “Mr. Joshua is taking his SATs in two months. If he loses his place now, it could affect his performance. Wouldn’t that be unwise?”
“SATS? What can he do with the SATs? He’s a useless fool! What college could he possibly get into? I want him to regret this!” Maggie scoffed.
Leonard immediately glanced at David again, but David’s silence made it clear he wasn’t opposing Maggie’s decision.
After a moment, Leonard sighed and said, “Mr. Fraser, Mrs. Fraser, Ms. Wendy… perhaps you’re unaware, but Mr. Joshua’s grades are actually quite good, even comparable to Mr. Frankie’s.”
“What?”
All three of them froze, stunned.
Wendy hurriedly turned to Leonard. “Mr. Stuart, do you know anything about Joshua’s grades?”
“Ms. Wendy, Mr. Joshua has been working very hard since he started high school, and his grades have always been excellent. At 27th Street High, he’s one of the top students, ranking within the top 200 in Kepong.
Neither Mr. Fraser, Mrs. Fraser, nor you ever asked him about it,” Leonard said with a sigh.

Wendy’s eyes widened in disbelief. “When did this start?”
“Since he was in the eleventh grade,” Leonard replied.
Hearing this, Wendy bolted toward the door.
“Wendy, where are you going?” Maggie called after her.
“I’m going to Joshua’s school to find out the truth!” Wendy said, her breath quick and urgent. Unable to stay at home any longer, she rushed out and drove off.
Maggie and David exchanged stunned glances. Neither of them had expected Joshua’s grades to be so impressive. “Mr. Stuart, are you serious? Joshua is in the top 200 in Kepong?”
“His results have likely improved even further in the past month. If you don’t believe me, you can visit 27th Street High and verify it for yourselves. Mr. Joshua’s academic performance has always been outstanding,” Leonard assured them.
“Let’s find out for ourselves!” Maggie declared. Refusing to believe it, she grabbed David and headed for the door.
The driver quickly arrived to take them to 27th Street High. By the time they reached the school, Wendy was already there, speaking with a school official.
“Joshua? Isn’t he an orphan? Who exactly are you people? Why are you pretending to be his relatives?” the official asked, eyeing the trio suspiciously.
Maggie snapped, “That’s none of your business. We’re here to ask about Joshua’s academic performance.”
“Joshua? He’s one of the top students at 27th Street High. But to avoid disrupting his SATs preparation, we can’t disclose any details,” the official replied curtly.
“What’s there to hide? It’s just grades! Why all the secrecy?” Maggie shot back angrily. “Or is there something shady going on here?”
