Chapter 55
“It depends on whether you’ll keep hurting me!” Joshua declared, his cold gaze fixed on Maggie. “Maggie, I’ve endured your abuse more times than I can count! I’ve had enough!”
He stared her down, his voice sharper. “There won’t be a next time–never again. If you dare lay another hand on me, I won’t hesitate to slash you with this knife! Mark my words!”
“Are you trying to drive me to my death?” Maggie fumed, trembling with rage.
His anger erupted like a storm. “Who’s driving whom to their death? Let me make one thing clear–you won’t have it easy! None of you will escape! I can’t retaliate now because I’m not strong enough yet, but once I am, every one of you will pay! Every humiliation, every torment I’ve endured these past four years will be repaid a hundredfold!”
Wendy’s body trembled violently. She covered her mouth, barely holding back a sob.
David was left stunned. He had never seen Joshua act this way before.
Joshua had always been the timid one in the Fraser Residence–meek, obliging, and submissive. Even when Maggie punished him or when Wendy and others slapped him, he would neither protest nor fight back.
Sometimes, Maggie even went as far as denying him food for an entire afternoon.
But now, this same Joshua had turned against them, hurling venomous, ice–cold words. David was caught between shock and fury.
On the other hand, Maggie was utterly infuriated. Yet behind her fury was disbelief–Joshua’s act of pointing a knife at her was nothing short of a direct challenge to her authority and patience.
She could not–and would not–tolerate such rebellion.
“Joshua, do you even understand what you’re saying?” Maggie hissed, her eyes narrowing into icy slits as she glared at him.
Joshua didn’t flinch, meeting her gaze head–on. “Of course I do! I’m not just aware–I’m crystal clear! All of you are my enemies! Every humiliation and torment I’ve endured these past four years is because of you! Maggie, karma will come for you! You won’t have a good ending! I may not be able to retaliate now, but mark my words–one day, someone will make you pay!”
David, unable to restrain his anger any longer, stepped forward, his hand raised to strike Joshua.
Joshua moved with the knife, forcing David to halt in his tracks.
“You think I don’t know what you’re trying to do? Forget it! I won’t stand for it anymore!” he growled, locking eyes with David. “If you so much as try to touch me, I’ll make sure we go down together!”
David withdrew his hand, his expression darkening. “Joshua, do you think you’ve matured enough to stand on your own?”
“Stand on my own? And what if I do? What if I don’t? Tell me, what have I ever received from your family? Any support? Any resources? Don’t kid yourself, Mr. David. In your family, I couldn’t even get a proper meal!” Joshua retorted with a bitter laugh.
David froze, recalling how Joshua frequently skipped meals, and fell silent.
“Sure, I owe you something–some pounds of flesh, maybe, and a few years‘ worth of living expenses. Don’t worry–I’ll pay you back soon enough. And if you want those pounds of flesh, I’ll happily ask a doctor to carve them out for you!”
Joshua laughed again, the sound cold and hollow. “But don’t think for a moment that you can continue

tormenting me! Try it, and the only outcome will be pain!”
“Joshua, have you lost your mind? I’m your mom!” Maggie screamed, her voice trembling with rage.
“Mom? Don’t make me laugh!” Joshua sneered, his disdain cutting through the air. “Don’t think I don’t know- out of everyone in the Frasers, you’re the most despicable! My mom? You? Hah! What a joke!”
Maggie’s fury boiled over, and she opened her mouth to hurl insults, but Wendy quickly stepped in and stopped her.
“Enough, Mom! Stop it! Joshua, please put the knife away!” Wendy pleaded.
Joshua turned his gaze to Wendy and smirked, his tone mocking. “What’s this? Trying to play the peacemaker now? You’ve certainly learned how to seize an opportunity, haven’t you, Wendy? Funny, I don’t remember you being this proactive before!”
She flinched at his words, her body trembling.
“Forget it. I’m done wasting my time on all of you. Wherever you came from, go back there! High society? What a joke!” Joshua spat on the ground, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and turned to leave.
The bodyguards moved to intercept him, but Maggie’s voice cut through the tension. “Let him go!”
Only then did Joshua stride toward the school gates. Before entering, he turned back, glanced at them, and smirked with a mocking glint in his eye.
