Joshua turned around and glanced at her, suddenly breaking into a smile. “Let me tell you something. Shirley. I’ve been an orphan my whole life. I’m not afraid of walking barefoot, and I’m not scared of the consequences! If you guys plan on bullying me, I’m not afraid of bloodshed. Listen carefully, and remember this well–1 am an orphan! My family is gone, all of them–dead and gone. They died eighteen years ago, completely wiped out!”
Shirley’s body trembled violently, her eyes widening in shock.
“Don’t come disturbing me again! The more you come, the worse your retribution will be. You can’t escape the cycle!” Joshua said coldly before turning away and walking off.
Wendy’s face was drained of color. She stood in place, shocked by his outburst, as she trembled uncontrollably.
Likewise, Shirley’s expression shifted dramatically.
Joshua quickly entered the school, leaving them outside. Both of them felt a sudden chill fill their hearts.
They weren’t sure how they ended up back in the car. Both sisters fell into a deep silence, the air around them feeling deathly cold.
Neither had expected Joshua to speak to them this way–so bitter, so extreme, filled with hatred.
Where was the obedient, meek younger brother of the Frasers?
They both remembered the old days when Joshua was still with them, always smiling, always trying to please his family members. Even when their mother scolded him, Joshua would smile and assure them that he was fine.
They remembered the family trip from last year when, due to Maddy’s actions, Joshua’s phone had been hidden, preventing him from contacting anyone. They had agreed to meet at the tourist spot’s entrance, but when Frankie suddenly fell ill, the family rushed to the hospital with him, leaving Joshua behind. None of them waited for him.
At that time, Joshua had walked alone for more than six miles, determined to return home.
After he was sent back by the police, Joshua was still able to smile and reassure everyone that he was fine- that he had just gotten lost and made them worry. He even apologized for causing trouble.
Back then, his sisters had laughed at him.
Now, however, he was almost cursing them out in anger.
What kind of desperation must he have been in to say that his entire family was dead?
Wendy couldn’t bring herself to imagine it.
“Wendy, Joshua seems so…” Shirley’s voice faltered, her expression one of difficulty. “He seems so unfamiliar.”

Wendy sniffled and shook her head. “Do you want to go back on your own, or should I give you a ride?”
“Aren’t we going in to look for him?” Shirley asked in surprise.
“After all this, what’s the point?” Wendy’s tone grew sharp, and she sounded impatient. “I still have things to do, so I’ll drop you off at home and head to the company.”
Shirley fell silent.
Wendy, too, was lost in thought. “Look at the records, alright? No matter what, you should go through them.” With that, she started the car, driving Shirley home before heading off to her own company.
As for the records, Wendy hadn’t finished reading all of them either. The further she got, the more horrifying Joshua’s words seemed to become. She had been too afraid to continue reading, but she hoped Shirley would. She needed to see it for herself.
Shirley stood at the entrance of the Frasers‘ villa as she watched Wendy leave, a surge of panic rising in her chest.
She had an inkling of what her eldest sister had been referring to, but she just couldn’t accept the truth for
now.
Meanwhile, Joshua’s words shocked her to the core.
He had almost cursed them all to death!
This wasn’t the bond of siblings; it felt more like enmity.
Well, Joshua had clearly seen them as enemies.
Shirley returned home.
The house was empty. Her parents were out, and her third sister, Maddy, wasn’t home either–she was an actress and singer, with her own packed schedule.
Shirley got into bed but turned and tossed around. She couldn’t stand the restlessness in her heart, so she pulled out her phone and opened the message Wendy had sent her.
There was quite a bit of content inside, all organized by Wendy, who had sent her a copy.
The day before, Shirley had taken a glance and then quickly put it aside–she couldn’t bring herself to continue reading. But now, there was no turning back; she had to read it thoroughly.
Maybe, just maybe, they really were cold–blooded.
Or maybe, they simply couldn’t accept such a brother.
‘Here is Shirley, who’s a university music lecturer! She even has a music album. Tom, I’m sending it to you -take a listen. These songs were written by her, and one of them is a song she dedicated to our family…‘
