“Thank you, Ms. Quinton! Also, if they come looking for trouble again, please tell them I’m not at school. They’re seriously disrupting my classes and studies!” Joshua said.
“Understood! I’ll inform the school administration and security immediately. We won’t let them in!” Agnes was particularly protective of Joshua.
Joshua’s academic performance was among the best at 27th Street High. In this year’s graduating class, few could rival him in the college entrance exams.
Naturally, Agnes was concerned that he might be distracted, which could affect his results.
Joshua, however, couldn’t be bothered with these matters. He turned his attention back to sorting his bananas and longans.
Over the next two days, reports of disaster–stricken areas began surfacing, with numerous images of banana plantations and longan trees devastated by the calamity appearing online.
The internet was flooded with laments.
As Joshua had anticipated, banana prices skyrocketed. In just one day, they rose sharply to 25 cents for every 500 grams. The price of longans also surged, climbing from almost 50 cents per 500 grams to 75 cents instead—an even steeper increase than bananas.
Upon hearing this news, many were understandably elated.
Amidst the bustle, word reached Joshua that someone had come looking for him–it was Wendy. Without so much as glancing her way, Joshua instructed the school security to send her off.
She wasn’t alone; she had brought Shirley along. Yet, Joshua refused to see them, directing the school to inform them he wasn’t present.
Later, even Judy showed up, but Joshua had no interest in meeting her either. When Agnes called to let him know, he had the school turn her away as well.
There was no point in meeting any of them.
He couldn’t fathom what they were thinking, coming to seek him out like this.
Joshua waited patiently for an entire day. Finally, the price of bananas climbed to 32 cents per 500 grams, causing an immediate stir among the group.
“32 cents for every 500 grams! It’s already more than doubled! This price is about right!” Tom exclaimed, his excitement evident.
“Joshua, should we sell now?” Gwen asked, her eyes fixed on him.
Although the price hadn’t quite reached Joshua’s projected peak of 35 cents per 500 grams, it was already a satisfying number under the circumstances.
Achieving the highest price would require bananas of exceptional quality. However, their stock had been

in storage for several days and likely wouldn’t fetch such premium rates.
The market could change in an instant. Acting quickly was the only way to secure a sizable profit.
“Sell! Sell everything!” Joshua decisively waved his hand.
“Got it! Selling now! I’ll head to the wholesale market!”
“I’ll contact the buyers. I’ll arrange for transport!”
At his command, the group sprang into action, their enthusiasm palpable.

None of them were the type to hesitate or overthink. They operated with speed and precision, executing their plans with remarkable effectiveness.
Within no time, they had secured a buyer at the wholesale market for their more than 10 kilos of bananas.
The banana dealer was well aware of the rising market prices. When he learned that Joshua had that much of bananas, he immediately dispatched a thirty–foot truck to collect them.
“These bananas… Were they purchased five days ago?”
The dealer seemed to recall this particular batch.
At the time, Joshua and his three companions had visited the wholesale market, buying from several different sellers. Their school uniforms and youthful appearance made them stand out in a place like the banana trade market.
“Exactly! We bought them five days ago. Since then, we’ve been storing them here,” Joshua replied with a grin. “Don’t worry, we’ve been watering the bananas daily, so they’re in excellent condition!”
The dealer gave them an enthusiastic thumbs–up, his face full of admiration.
“Incredible! You guys are impressive!”
Tom, Gwen, and the others couldn’t help but laugh at the praise.
Word about their venture began to spread in the wholesale market.
A group of high school students turning a quick profit of thousands in just a few days? It was practically unheard of. Their story even earned the respect of the landlord who had rented them the storage space.
Selling the bananas was straightforward. Crate by crate, they hauled them out to be weighed.
Altogether, they had stockpiled close to 14,000 kilos of bananas, along with over 600 kilos of longans- more than enough to earn them a significant profit.
When every last banana and longan was sold, the group stood together, staring at the money in their hands, barely able to contain their excitement.
