She found it hard to imagine what sort of emotions Joshua harbored then.

‘How awesome it would be if I were just one–tenth, no, one–hundredth as brilliant as Wendy. Well, I probably won’t be as great as her, no matter how much brown–nosing!‘
As Wendy read through these lines of words, she slowly realized how great Joshua’s admiration and motivation were.
‘Tom, Gwen, check these out. These are all Wendy’s awards. There are so many that I can’t even finish looking at them. Wendy truly is magnificent!‘
At that time, Joshua’s eyes were filled with sparkle when he saw her.
It was as though he had encountered his idol. He would be so excited that he couldn’t control himself, and his face was filled with adoration.
Now that Wendy recalled, Joshua seemed to be thrilled every time he saw her in the past. He would dash over to her, help her carry her stuff, and swiftly greet her.
Since then, Wendy felt nothing but annoyed.
However, the admiration in Joshua’s eyes gradually changed from admiration and excitement to fear when he looked at her later. It remained that way until the day he left home and went missing.
In addition, his eyes no longer carried even the slightest hint of excitement when she went to see him just now. Rather, his gaze was dead calm.
The way he looked at her was like looking at a complete stranger.
Clearly, I could have been his idol and the light of hope in his life!
Joshua was an orphan! He had never encountered someone as accomplished as me before! Guilt–stricken, Wendy blamed herself inwardly.
He used to admire and look up to me extremely. He used to constantly promise himself that he must be like me and become one percent as excellent as me.
Yet, I treated him so awfully!
“Oh, Wendy, you fool. Karma is real. Ever heard of ‘You reap what you sow?‘ You will definitely get punished for this!” Wendy murmured to herself.

At this point, Wendy was already sobbing out on the bed.
Then, she could no longer hold back her voice and wail.
She never knew Joshua would be in such despair.
She was no longer his idol but the executioner who killed him.

“Cheers!” A burst of excited voices sounded in the rental house.
It was none other than Joshua and his friends. They were thrilled and gathered together to celebrate after a busy day.
Since the storm had come to an end, many individuals had left their houses for various daily activities.
Joshua and Tom went out to sell live prawns and crabs at noon before selling them again in the afternoon.
Now, they had sold most of their stocks, with only a small portion left.
They had already earned back the money they spent purchasing the live prawns and crabs, so the rest was all profit.
Each of them could earn hundreds of dollars from today’s sales.
“Joshua, way to go to come up with such a brilliant idea! I can’t believe the price would really increase. We really profited big this time!” Tom smiled and exclaimed excitedly.
“That’s right! Just as Joshua said, we can really make big bucks this time. Since I invested 450, I could earn over 900!” Gwen, too, was stoked.
Because she was a high school student, she dressed very plainly. She didn’t dress up, had no makeup, and was merely in the casual outfit she wore to school.
Still, she exuded grace and elegance.
“I also made a profit,” Edith said with a smile. “We all made money this time!”
Feeling happy for his friends, Joshua smiled and added, “It’s not over yet. I just checked the news. It’s said that this storm has caused serious damage to longan, lychee, and bananas, especially bananas. Many banana plantations have been destroyed. We will go to the wholesale market and buy plenty of bananas tomorrow. I foresee the price of bananas can double or even more within four or five days!”
“Double again?” Tom was surprised.
“Yes! It will surely double! With this increase, we can solve our urgent needs! Gwen and Edith, you no longer have to work in the cafeteria. If you want to work, wait until after we finish our SATS! Tom, you don’t have to wash dishes either. We have enough money to get through these few months. We can think of other ways to make money after the SATs!” Joshua suggested with a smile,
As soon as the three heard what Joshua said, they couldn’t help but feel psyched.

She couldn’t understand why Joshua would run away from home when he clearly was intensely proud of everything about the Frasers before. He had the most outstanding sisters and parents, a wealthy family. and ample food and clothing.
As Gwen. Tom, and Edith were also orphans like Joshua, they had been extremely envious of him in the past. They all felt he behaved overly braggy when he constantly sent them those photos and texts.
