Chapter Fifty–Five
Paul’s POV
It has been several weeks since I came to the rogue Alpha compound. I have been talking
mainly with his Beta, Vince, and Gamma, Tyler, and watching how they train their warriors.
They are strong, but not as strong as Mountain Moon. I asked Vince and Tyler if I could show
them some moves and help build their warriors‘ strength. They were reluctant to, but
eventually, they allowed me to train their warriors. After a week of training, they were
impressed on how much better they were getting.
I have yet to meet with the Alpha after that day. He has remained hidden in the mine. I asked
Vince when I could meet him again, and I was told it depended on the Alpha. I am frustrated
because I need to get back to Sacramento to organize and finalize the attack. Luckily, Ronnie and Charlie have been staying in contact with me on the progress. Rogues have been arriving
at the warehouse every day, getting vetted, getting medical care that they need, and having
food in their bellies before they are sent to the compound. Ronnie has managed to build ten
more barracks that will house up to one hundred rogues at one time in each, with the ten that
he had already built. He expanded the mess hall and kitchen so we could feed more rogues as
they arrived and bought the land surrounding the compound so we could expand.
I have had enough of waiting around on the rogue Alpha. I needed to get back now and get the
attack organized. I saw Vince walking across the driveway and I went up to him.
“Vince, either I see the Alpha today or I am leaving! I had waited for several weeks and had no
meeting with him. I need to get back to Sacramento and plan my attack on Mountain Moon
and Ocean Bay!” I demanded, Vince, looking at me with a shock on his face like I had the balls
to talk to him like that. “I have been waiting patiently, but my patience is running thin, and I do
have other things to do other than sit here and wait for him to grow some balls, come out of
hiding, and attack all the surrounding packs with the help of other rogues. I have twenty–five hundred rogues waiting on me in Sacramento and I have recruiters out around the country, getting more. I am planning on having fifteen hundred more to show up, and with the rogues here, we could take over the western United States and all your people won’t have to live in fear anymore.”
“Firstly, you do not come up to me and demand anything! You are a guest here, and you are to
be respectful to the Alpha, me, Tyler, and the pack members here. Second, I understand that
you have been waiting patiently for a meeting, but the Alpha does things like this to see if you
are trustworthy, which, in my and Tyler’s opinion, you are. We had your phone tapped, and you

have not given out either one of our locations. You have been helping out around the pack, mainly with the training, which we greatly appreciate. I will talk to the Alpha today and see what he says. I will let you know this evening,” he said to me, aggravated by the way I talked to him. Yes, I could have been nicer and talked to him differently, especially with him being a Beta, but I want to get back to Sacramento and talk to my scouts and find out what is going
on at Mountain Moon.
“I’ll wait until this evening. If there is no meeting, then my men and I will leave in the morning. You and your men can escort us out of the pack to a specific location and leave us there to find our way to Casper to get to the airport. I will be getting a hold of my pilot to meet me there tomorrow if there is no meeting tonight. Thank you for your hospitality and for showing me around your pack.” I turned and walked away to the barracks, to pack my stuff. I saw Liam, Leo, and Luke, my security team, playing with some of the pups in front of our barracks.
“Men! Get your things packed! If I don’t get the meeting tonight that I have been waiting for, we are leaving in the morning for Casper and going back home!” I commanded them. They stopped what they were doing and answered.
“Yes, sir! We will be ready in the morning.” They apologized to the pups and went inside to pack their bags. I had one of them leave a tracker in their room, so we can find them again and take over the pack when I get enough men. I went into my room and got my things. together, throwing them into a bag, only leaving clothes and my toiletries out for the morning.
I went out to the corral, to say goodbye to the horse that I had partnered with the last several weeks. I rode him while being here, helping with the herd and riding around the pack. Riding was peaceful and fulfilling. If I ever get a pack, I will get a stable of horses and start riding every day. Champ is a big buckskin Quarter Horse gelding and has a great temperament and patience, especially for someone new to riding. I will miss this big lug. I made sure that he had plenty of water, refilled his hay, and walked away.
I got back to the barracks and Vince was standing there, waiting for me.
“I have good news for you. Alpha said that he would meet with you this evening. He will be coming here tonight after it is dark. He and his crew of rogues at the cave will be coming. Be at the big house at ten,” he announced and walked away. About damn time, I am ready to go. home and back to civilization. Don’t get me wrong, it is quiet, peaceful, beautiful with the mountains in the background, but I am ready to go back to the city. Hell, I am going to find a she wolf and have fun with them for the night. It has been a while since I had my c**k in one.
I waited until nighttime before I went to the big house. That is Alpha’s home when he is out of the mine. I walked to the door, and before I could knock, it opened and a guard was standing

“Are you Paul?” he asked and I nodded my head. “Follow me and I will show you the Alpha’s office.” I followed him down a hallway and before the kitchen, there was an office. He showed me, told me that the Alpha would be here shortly, and shut the door. I went and sat down on the couch, waiting for him to arrive. It was a half hour later and the door opened, and I jumped
up off the couch.
“Paul, thank you for coming to my home, and thank you for being so patient about this meeting. I wanted to know if you were trustworthy, and I was waiting for my spies to come back from California. Everything you have said is true. But we have a problem. Mountain Moon and Ocean Bay are also recruiting rogues, with incredibly good terms. Join them, and you get protection, a home, and stability. They have recruited a lot right now, but once the word gets out, more rogues will come to them, especially when they find out that there will be an attack on Mountain Moon and that the pack is the biggest and richest on the continent.
I know that you want my people, but I don’t want to lose any. I have been told that you have been helping train my warriors, improving them sufficiently and making them stronger and better fighters. I like that,” he said as he went over to pour himself a drink. “Would you like some whiskey? Some of the best that I have ever had. Had it shipped from Ireland.” I nodded my head, and he handed me a glass. He went and sat down at his desk, motioning me to sit
on the chair in front of his desk.
“Alpha, I’m sorry, I never caught your name,” I asked him, sitting down.
“My name is Alpha Ramano Cortez. I have come from an exceedingly long line of Alphas. My family has had this pack for over three hundred years. We were not always rogues. We were originally based in South Carolina and had one of the biggest plantations in the South. After the Civil War, the werewolf counsel tried to get us to either get rid of our slaves or pay them wages. My great–great–great grandfather refused to. So, he went and turned them all into werewolves and commanded them to destroy that council. They were not successful and when the council found out, they took the plantation and the town from him, making him, the town, and the slaves all rogues. Our family went from state to state, trying to find a permanent home, but had no luck until about thirty years ago when my Beta’s mate inherited this place and this is what we have called home since then. I have always wanted to get back at the council, and we have been by attacking smaller packs, taking food, money, valuables, women, and children, making my pack stronger. I take in rogues who leave their packs because the conditions are bad, they are abused and just left to find a haven or be banished by their pack because of their crimes. The ones that have been banished I keep away from here and keep them in the mine. I do not want them to harm my members here and try to take over my pack,

I have well over two thousand wolves here at the ranch and two thousand at the mine. That is
four thousand wolves that I have to keep under control, especially in the mine. That is why my
most trusted men are there to guard those assholes, to keep them in line and out of trouble. If
they cause any trouble, I have them killed. It reminds others who are in control of their fate
and reminds them of the consequences of their actions if they get out of control. I will send
you the ones at the mine, but not the ones here at the ranch. Their family line has been with the pack from the beginning and I will not risk their bloodlines, especially the ones who are
unmated and have no heir unless they choose to go, so, they can find their mate and bring
them back here.
Also, I will help out with your compound by shipping out three truckloads of lumber so you can build housing for all the rogues that are coming to you. That should be enough to build six barracks and if you need more, get a hold of Vince and I will send more. Will that make you
happy?”
“Thank you, Alpha Ramano. That will be more than enough to help destroy Mountain Moon and get back at those who destroyed my life and I will be about to get Mountain Moon as my pack. When I am Alpha of Mountain Moon, you will have my protection from the council.” He nodded and shook my hand. I walked out of his office and went outside. I got on the phone
with Ronnie.
“Ronnie, we have two thousand wolves and three semi–trucks loaded with lumber heading your way. I will be there tomorrow afternoon. Have someone there in Stockton to pick us up.” I told him and hung up before he said anything. I am finally getting s**t together and my plans
are starting to come together.
