Chapter Forty–Two
As we approached the border, the scent of rogues was strong. We could hear the growling, snapping of jaws, wolves whimpering as they got hurt. A rogue jumped out of the bushes, tackling Greg to the ground. Greg kicked him off of him, jumping up and attacking the rogue.
I stopped and looked around, sensing more in the bushes. I linked Nick and Oscar to keep our backs to each other, so there was no surprise attack. One jumped out, running towards me. I waited until he was ready to pounce, and when he did, I jumped to the side, making him miss me. He landed on his side, revealing his stomach. I jumped over, claws extended, and ripped out his stomach. The rogue screamed in pain, and I grabbed his throat, tearing it out, and ending his misery. Two more came out, one towards me and the other towards Nick. The rogue jumped to get me, and I ducked and rolled under him. I got to my feet and the rogue growled at me, crouching low to the ground. They lunged at me, and I moved to the side, making them miss me. I grabbed one of their hind legs while they jumped past me and swung them against the tree. I heard a crunch, knowing that I had broken their back. I went up to them, tearing out their throat while they were lying there.
Greg, Nick, and Oscar killed the rogues and Greg looked at me.
“Are you doing ok? You are seriously kicking some ass!” he asked.
“I’m fine. These rogues are too slow for me. Let’s get more.” I told him, taking off towards the border. The guys were right on my tail. We approached a huge pack of wolves fighting, with more rogues coming. I jumped on top of one, latching onto his throat, and tearing it out before they knew what was happening. I was jumping from rogue to rogue, killing them before they knew I was there. I never realized this before, but Winter and I are incredibly fast. I stayed within the guys‘ sight, so Greg wouldn’t worry. I killed several more before I noticed a wolf that I had known in the past. Paul Gooding. My worthless, no–good ex–stepfather. What the hell is
he doing here? Did he orchestrate this attack? I linked Greg.
“Paul is here! What the hell is he doing here? He is supposed to be in Colorado!”
“I was going to tell you after the ceremony that he was in the area. I found out a couple of days ago. As soon as I found out that he was in the city, I increased the security and patrols, believing that he would plan something like this. I didn’t want to worry you, especially when you are already stressed out with the ceremony.”
I growled through our link. “DO NOT EVER KEEP ANYTHING FROM ME AGAIN! We need to tell each other everything, no matter how bad it is!” Deacon whined and laid down on the ground.

Let’s focus on the attack right now, and we will discuss this later!” Just as I said that a rogue tried to jump on me, but I sensed him and moved to the side, grabbing his hind leg, and ripping it off. There was blood all over the place. Then I ripped out his throat. We fought the rogues for
a while, killing them off left and right. They realized that they were losing and took off running
into the woods and off the packlands. Paul was right behind them but stopped and shifted
into his human form.
“Tovi, you and your w***e of a mother better watch yourselves! I will get you both back, your
mother for leaving me and you for telling everyone what I did to you!” he yelled at me. I nodded
at Greg, and I had him and several other wolves surround me. I shifted back, laughing at him.
“Paul, that is some funny s**t. Mother got tired of your abuse towards her. You don’t think that
Siobhan, Bjorn, and I didn’t hear you behind closed doors, screaming at mother all the time
and beating her!” I reminded him. “And with me, you did that yourself when you got too damn
cocky and wanted Richard to punish me for what Chelsea did to me. As soon as he saw the
scars on my back from you abusing me over the years, he went to Alpha Zane and told him. I
didn’t say one word. I was out of the apartment and onto the Alpha floor the same day that I
walked out of the cells. You are doing this because your pride was hurt, and you think that you
could get back at the people that you thought ruined your life when it was YOU who did it! You,
Paul Gooding, destroyed your own life! So, take responsibility for your actions!” He growled at
me and shifted back into his wolf. I linked Greg to let me finish him, to stand back, and if Paul
gets dirty, to jump in and kill him at my cue. I shifted back into Winter, waiting for Paul to make a move. He jumped at me, missing me as I ducked. I turned around and tackled him to
the ground, pushing his shoulders down with my paws. His jaws were snapping at me, trying
to get to my throat. I swiped him across the face, tearing his eye out and knocking him out. He
shifted back into human form. Greg and the warriors ran up to us, and I got off Paul, shifting
into my human form.
“Are
you
ok?” Greg asked me, wrapping his arms around me, and kissing me.
“Yes babe, I am ok. Let’s get him to the cells before he wakes up. Have the doctor look at his
eye before he wakes up. Make sure he gets plenty of wolfsbanes to weaken him, so he doesn’t
shift into Lucien. He nodded his head, and several warriors came and picked him up.
Someone brought some clothes for me, even though they are too big, but it is better than
nothing. I will make sure that there are clothes for me and any female in the pack throughout
the lands. Greg looked over me, making sure I wasn’t hurt. I had a couple of scratches, but
nothing serious. He had a gash across his chest. I will make sure that the doctor looks at him
when we get back to the packhouse.
Several of our warriors, along with Pete’s, were injured, but none were life–threatening. Thank

Goddess we didn’t lose anyone, and everyone gets to go home to their families. Greg linked
the pack, letting them know that we were victorious and let’s continue the celebration. We
were all covered in blood, so we stopped at a small pond to clean up. The warriors were respectful towards me, let me go first, and turned their backs while I cleaned up.
We got to the packhouse and my family came running out, happy that I was safe and uninjured. I hugged everyone and linked the doctor to come look at Greg’s injury. We went to
his office and waited for the doctor.
“Next time, babe, when we have an attack, please stay here, and help protect the women, children, and the elderly. I don’t want you to get hurt out there,” he said, kissing me gently. “But
you kicked some serious ass tonight, and I am so proud of you and Winter. It is time to
increase your training and make you a powerhouse out there.”
“Thank you, baby, but I will not going to stay here when the threat is out there. I will be in the
next fight and the fight after that. I am a special wolf and can manage the fighting. I WANT TO
PROTECT OUR PACK! Not just sit back and do nothing,” I told him.
“You are the perfect Luna for this pack. You are strong, powerful, and have the pack’s
well–being in mind. I love you, and I am so happy that you are my mate. After the celebration, we need to figure out what to do about Paul and Shelia.”
“There is nothing to figure out. They both need to die before the next full moon. Shelia for threatening me, and we know she concluded with the rogues on the attack and Paul for
attacking us. If there is anyone else with Shelia here in the pack that helped, they will die, too.”
Greg held me close until the doctor knocked on the door. He came in, cleaned the gash, and
stitched it up. “It will take your wolf a few days to heal it because it is deep. Just keep it clean and covered until. Alpha, Luna,” he said, bowing his head before leaving the office. Jack and
Jason came in, with concern on their faces.
“Greg, Luna, we are happy that both of you are ok!” Jack said, hugging both of us.
“You two don’t have to call me Luna unless we have visitors or in other packs. Tovi will be simply fine.” Both of them nodded their heads. “Now, if you excuse me, I am going to take a quick shower and join the pack in the celebration. I will see you gentlemen in a bit.” I gave Greg a quick kiss and headed to our suite.
