Chapter 5
Vivian lay in the bathtub, her clothes soaked through. She held a wine bottle in one hand while an empty pill bottle rolled on the floor. It was a perfectly staged suicide scene.
Unfortunately for her, Owen simply picked up the showerhead, turned on the cold water, and doused her without hesitation. She
jolted awake, screaming as she scrambled out of the bathtub.
She quickly slipped back into her usual pitiful demeanor when she saw who it was.
“Owen, what are you doing?” She swayed weakly, collapsing toward him. “I feel so dizzy… Can you take me to the hospital?”
Owen shoved her aside and held up his phone, playing the surveillance footage. His voice was cold as he demanded, “Explain this. And tell me why did you manipulate Luca into making Shannon go into the water?”
Vivian’s eyes widened in shock. “Owen, I didn’t mean to! I was just scared of losing both of you! We were so happy as a family of
three. Why should Shannon get everything without doing anything?”
Owen’s facial expression darkened. “Have you forgotten? Everything was Shannon’s to begin with. I was only with you because
you promised to treat her illness. And you agreed that we would end things completely after three years.

“I changed my mind.” She sobbed, clinging to his waist. “Three years isn’t enough! Owen, I don’t believe that you don’t have any feelings for me. You still love me, don’t you? If you didn’t, why did you care so much about our wedding? Please don’t leave me!
Let’s live like we used to!”
For a brief moment, Owen couldn’t refute her words.
He couldn’t deny it. He had been under unimaginable pressure after that accident.
