Owen lifted his tear–streaked face. “You know her?”
“I do.” Jerry let out a sigh. “We were classmates. If it was her… I understand now.”
The drug that had been used on me was actually developed by Jerry’s mentor, Mason Russell. It had been pulled from the market
before it was ever officially released.
Mason had explicitly prohibited its use. However, Vivian had ignored that order and secretly sold the drug.
Not long after, a patient who had taken it lost their memory. When the family came looking for answers, Vivian shifted all the
blame onto Mason.
“Fortunately, my mentor was cautious and recorded everything he had said. Once the truth came to light, Vivian was expelled and had her medical license revoked. Why would you ever let her treat Ms. Houghton?”

Owen’s face turned ashen. He had always believed that Vivian, my biological sister, would do everything she could to help me. But
he had been wrong.
He was wrong about everything.
Luca clung to me tightly. I was shocked to learn that I had such a grown son.
He was undeniably cute, but for some reason, I couldn’t shake the feeling of resistance whenever I touched him.
Not far away, Owen had finished listening to the whole story. He wiped his face with his hand, then walked toward me.
I tensed up. “Are you really my husband? Are we married? Where’s the marriage certificate? Show it to me.”
Owen didn’t answer. Instead, he took my hand, lowered his head, and kissed it.
“Shannon, everything that happened before was my fault. I was the one who hurt you. I’ll make it right. I will get revenge for you.
Wait for me.“‘
Then, he turned to leave.
Luca ran after him. “Dad! I’m coming with you! I want to help Mom get revenge, too!”
Owen agreed without hesitation. From start to finish, neither of them ever told me who they were going after.
The only thing I knew was that the next day, the news reported a story about a naked woman who had jumped to her death.
A suicide like that wouldn’t usually make headlines. What made it newsworthy was the fact that she had started a livestream the
night before her death.
In front of an entire audience, she confessed her sins. She admitted that she was a terrible person and that she had drugged her own sister helgebr
Some people asked if she had been forced to do the broadcast, but she shook her head in denial.
Even the police got involved. But when they arrived at her home, they were met by her husband, who dismissed them, saying,
“She was always a little mentally unstable. It’s nothing to worry about.”
Her name was Vivian Houghton. I felt an odd sense of familiarity as I stared at that name.
“Was she… my family?” I asked Jerry. “Am I really the sister she was talking about? Did she do this to me?”
Jerry shook his head. “She’s just a stranger. Don’t dwell on it.”
I nodded. After a moment of hesitation, I added, “Can you make sure that father and son never come back here again?”
He looked at me in surprise. “Why? Don’t you like them?”
“I don’t,” I answered honestly. “I feel nothing but disgust when I see them. I just want to stay as far away from them as possible.
It’s like… they’ve hurt me in ways that I don’t even remember.”
